A good summer day doesn't need much.
A comfortable chair. A cold drink. A view of the water. Maybe the sound of peepers starting up as the sun drops behind the hills.
And, of course, a good book.
We've put together a Summer Reading List filled with character-driven mysteries, cozy favorites, beach (or lake) reads, Revolutionary-era history, classics, and a few stories that feel right at home in rural America.
Whether you're reading on the porch, at the campground, on the dock, or beside the campfire, we hope you'll find something worth packing in your beach bag—or your tackle box.
(You're going to want to save this list)
📚 Looking for even more reasons to pick up a book?
During Montrose Summer Launch on Saturday, June 20, the Susquehanna County Historical Society & Free Library Association will host Get Out and Read Day in honor of Sue Stone. Stories will be read on the Historical Society lawn every half hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We're happy to celebrate an event that encourages people to slow down, gather together, and enjoy a good story.
Now we need your help.
