🚨💙 National First Responder Appreciation Day 💙🚨

Today, we recognize the incredible people who answer the call when our communities need them most.

To our EMTs, Paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and all of our fellow first responders — thank you for the long hours, missed holidays, sleepless nights, compassion, courage, and commitment you bring to the job every day. 🚑🚒🚓📞

Different uniforms. Different roles. One shared purpose: being there when it matters most.

Last night your United Volunteers were dispatched to a single vehicle MVA with a 500 gallon propane tank involved and possibly leaking. Montrose Minute Men arrived and confirmed the active leak and began evacuation of the nearby residence. United crews stretched a hand line and utilized a fog pattern to disperse vapors while making entry to isolate the leak and shut the valves off. An excellent job was done by all in a very volatile situation!

🇺🇸🚑 Happy Labor Day from the Montrose Minute Men! 🚑🇺🇸

Today, we recognize the hardworking people who keep our community moving every day — from our local businesses and organizations to healthcare workers, first responders, tradespeople, educators, and everyone in between.

And while many are enjoying a well-deserved day off, we're especially grateful for those who are still on the clock today, including our own EMS crews who remain ready to answer the call 24/7. 💙

However you're spending your Labor Day, we hope it's a safe and enjoyable one!

Through a collaboration between Little Meadows Volunteer Fire Company & Rescue Squad , the EMS of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. EMS Region's Educational Institute, and our agency, we are proud to announce a Hybrid EMT Course scheduled to begin October 1st, 2026 at 6:00 PM. This class will be held Tuesdays, Thursdays and multiple Saturdays, to cover close to 200 hours of education.

This course will be a a hybrid design - for the didactic portion (lectures), we will have two locations -the Little Meadows Rescue Squad station or our station in Montrose, and will be completed via a live, instructor led virtual offering. All psychomotor (hands-on/Lab) classes will be held at the Montrose Minute Men garage and will cover the physical aspects of training for your EMS Career!

The cost of the course is only $200 per student, as the cost of the course is subsidized by PA Rural EMS Training Grant, through the EMS of Northeastern Pennsylvania EMS Region.

From talking with other agencies, I am aware of many students throughout Susquehanna County that are ready to apply! Act quickly to guarantee your seat, and be the next generation of EMS caring for the sick and injured!

Vince plays such an important role in leading the Montrose Minute Men and puts an incredible amount of time, dedication, and heart into our organization and the community we serve.

It’s Harford Fair week! As our community comes together to enjoy the animals, exhibits, food, and local traditions, the Montrose Minute Men are proud to help keep our neighbors safe.

A quick reminder for families attending the fair: keep an eye on children in busy areas, stay aware of your surroundings, and be respectful to the livestock. If you have a medical need or emergency, ask a nearby staff member or call 911.

1. Stay Together
Keep children close and choose a meeting spot in case someone gets separated.

2. Give Livestock Space
Admire the animals from a safe distance and follow all posted instructions.

3. Stay Hydrated and Ask for Help
Drink plenty of water, take breaks, and tell a fair staff member if you need assistance.
