Yesterday marked the 376th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of St. Joseph. We are so grateful for these six women, as well as all of the Sisters of St. Joseph who have been guided by the love of God and service to the dear neighbor without distinction.

In 1650, six ordinary women, under the guidance of Jean Pierre Medaille, SJ, joined together in community under the patronage of St. Joseph in Le Puy-en-Velay, France.

These six women had a common desire to grow in their love of God and serve the unmet needs of the people around them, whom they came to call their “dear neighbors.” From their humble beginnings in a small kitchen, the order grew to include communities all over the world.

As we celebrate Founders’ Day today, let us give thanks for each of the thousands of Sisters of St. Joseph whose faithfulness has brought us to this day.

Recently, St. Catherine University came together for Citizen Katie. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni united to live out shared values across ACSSJ colleges by working on meaningful service projects and celebrating community.

This past weekend, St. Kate's gathered for Citizen Katie, with students, faculty, staff, and alumni coming together to work on service projects and celebrate community.

In collaboration with community partners, volunteers assembled dressers, created clay bowls, supported the Food Access Hub, assembled sweatshirts for people undergoing dialysis treatment, and much more.
