Here are a few things we accomplished in 2022!

Non-Profit Status Obtained: In early 2022, MD Link obtained non-profit status from the IRS, while maintaining its Registered Student Organization (RSO) status with the UMN. This dual status enables MD Link to serve vulnerable youth in ways that the government cannot fully do, while also uplifting students through developing leadership and advocacy skills. We are one-of-a-kind with this dual status, and with it, we can serve in ways that are truly unpreceded.

Leadership Board: With an increased number of projects, initiatives, and goals, MD Link’s co-presidents developed 10 director positions and 23 coordinator positions, for a total of 35 board members.

Partnerships: In 2022, MD Link doubled the number of our current partnerships from 3 to 6. In addition, we are currently establishing relationships with 7 additional partnerships.
-Current Partnerships: Rebound; Adoption Medicine Clinic; Face2Face; Washington County Kinship; Beyond Walls; & Advocates for Better Health.
-Partnerships Being Established: The Ladder; The Boys and Girls Club; North Community High School; Minnesota Department of Human Services; Lutheran Social Services; Quincy House; & Foster Advocates.

The co-presidents of MD Link have begun the process of leadership transitions for 2023 – 2024. Please keep an eye out for leadership applications in February 2023.

MD Link provided multiple trauma informed care and cultural humility trainings for mentors. This unique and essential training provided our mentors and workshop facilities with the necessary tools to work with youth exposed to the traumas of homelessness, foster-care, human-trafficking, and the criminal justice system.

Julia Meyer (she/her) is one of our General Board Members and as a part of MD Link, she is looking forward to helping facilitate change in our community and provide stability for vulnerable youth. Also, she is looking forward to working on several different projects that help promote MD Link's mission!

A fun fact about Julia is that she has been to Paris!
