The Twin Cities Cuttles have decided to pull out from Minnesota Leather Pride's Rush event this upcoming Sunday to stand in solidarity with the community members who are participating in the current boycott against the Saloon.
We have heard and seen the personal narratives shared by those who have been victims of racism by CFO Chris Bock, as well as other Saloon staff members. We are also aware of the transphobia and misogyny that continues to occur in this space. Some of us have had personal discriminatory experiences at the Saloon and were already working on addressing these issues with staff in hopes of creating a more inclusive environment that our leather community/ overall q***r bar scene desperately needs. We still intend to continue with this project, and are grateful towards the staff members that have been engaged and shown that they care and want to do right by our community.
That being said, as of now, we as a club will not be engaging with this venue for our own events, nor will we be participating at events hosted there until further notice. We will reassess this position pending the Saloon's response to these issues as the community continues to speak out.
We hope to reschedule our Fall social soon to give folks another opportunity to get to know us and learn about what we do.
