Our K/1 girls became Character Architects with Miss Yasmeen!
Through our “My Body Is a Good Body” activity, the girls explored how every part of their body is important and helps make them who they are. They chose their brains because they help them think, and be problem solvers, and their hearts because it helps show kindness. Girls then constructed themselves! 👧🏿

TALK IT OVER TUESDAY! Last week, MLK Center's teens stepped into the courtroom for “Conflict Court,” taking on the roles of judges, jurors, plaintiffs, and defendants. Teens presented and defended their sides of different conflict scenarios.
Jurors reviewed each case and delivered a verdict: Guilty – made the situation worse, Not Guilty, or Both Parties Contributed to the Conflict. Judges concluded each case by offering a conflict-resolution sentence.

Our elementary school scholars officially kicked off Robotics Club this week, in partnership with 100 Black Men! The children were excited and I can't wait to see our students design and build their robots! Stay tuned for more pictures and videos!

There's something quietly magical about a bouquet handed over with no occasion at all — just love, freely given. That's exactly the spirit our MLK staff and elementary school students captured when they dreamed up a simple but heartfelt surprise: fresh flowers for moms coming home after a long day.

Ever wonder where the idea for free school breakfasts started? History is closer (and tastier) than you think! Long before free meals were standard in schools, members of the Black Panther Party woke up at 5:00 am to cook warm breakfasts for neighborhood kids.

We’re coming together to explore this inspiring legacy through two incredible books (participants can choose one):
One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia and Revolution in Our Time by Kekla Magoon.

Every week, dedicated volunteers from across our community show up for elementary students ready to level up their math and reading skills. The MLK Level Up Club provides support to students seeking to level up certain skills! Level Up tutors are helping students build not just academic skills, but real confidence. 📚

Since launching in February 2026, teachers, families, and staff have all reported the same exciting trend: students are showing stronger problem-solving abilities, better self-regulation, and growing confidence in both math and reading.
