Next in our 25 Moments to Remember series, we’re highlighting an important season of growth and self examination within the Common Ground family of churches.
From the beginning, the name “Common Ground” reflected a desire to build a church centered on Jesus and the Gospel, where people from all backgrounds would feel invited to belong and be formed in the image of Jesus together.
In the early 2010s, the congregations began taking a deeper look at how racial and cultural biases could impact that vision of belonging. Through prayer, learning, repentance, and ongoing reflection, all three Common Ground congregations began growing in their understanding of the connection between the righteousness of God and the justice of God.
That journey continues today as Midtown, Northeast, and West each seek to live more fully into the vision of Micah 6:8 within their own communities, while remaining connected through a shared commitment to love God, love neighbor, and pursue justice with humility.
