Passive House Minnesota

Passive House Minnesota We are located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Passive House Minnesota was founded by Tim Delhey Eian of TE Studio in 2008.

Passive House Minnesota is a group of Minnesota-based Passive House professional, practitioners, and supporters who educate and promote the Passive House building energy standard. Since then, it has supported the building standard in the state of Minnesota, its neighboring states and throughout North America. Minnesota is home to North Americas’ first certified Passive House, the Waldsee BioHaus,

designed by North American Passive House pioneer and registered Architect Stephan Tanner in 2005 and completed in 2006. It represents ground zero for the World’s leading building energy standard in North America. Experts say "if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere", as Minnesota climate is one of the toughest in the World to build in.

Today is the day! Join via zoom at noon CT Tuesday, March 24 for "Demystifying Ventilation" presented by Gabrielle O’Grady of @475.supply .

If you’re building well, you need to ventilate on purpose. Come explore how centralized HRV and ERV systems really work and how to ensure yours can withstand scrutiny.

Learn why they outperform spot ventilation and how they integrate with Passive House enclosures, as Gabrielle uses Brink FLAIR systems to cover:

→ airflow control, energy recovery, and mechanical system coordination
→ how to design, price and install systems
→ communication with the owner

With the right communication, and the right HRV or ERV, everyone can ensure system performance is measured, verified, and trusted.

“What Are the Actual Hoops to Meet Passive House Certification?”
with Melissa Furukawa of Peel Passive House Consulting Ltd.

Passive House building certification has a reputation for being too hard, too expensive, or too time-consuming. While it is a rigorous and demanding process, with the right approach it can be made much easier.

To help teams navigate certification and achieve a successful outcome, Melissa will explore:

💡 Effective resources and strategies
💡 Key requirements and general process
💡 Where complexity, cost, and time pressures actually come from—and how they can be managed
💡 Ways to streamline with planning, roles, and experienced Passive House consultants

Certification is challenging, but far from out of reach.

We are still holding our Passive House Happy Hour today, but the time will be 5-6:30pm at so that you can participate in the precinct caucuses this evening at 7pm (check the Minnesota Secretary of State's website for your details).

Please be aware that there has been ice activity on Central Ave. There are neighbors who are observing the most impacted areas just north of Northrup King. Feel free to bring a friend or join us on March 3, 7-8:30pm if you feel vunerable right now. If you are not attending your precinct caucus this evening, consider having dinner at one of the wonderful restaurants on Central Ave that have been economically impacted this last month.

We hope to see you this evening, and let's continue to meet in community - and talk about all things Passive House!
