Established in 2009, Foci MCGA (Minnesota Center for Glass Arts) proudly represents a vibrant arts community as Minnesota’s only public access studio and education center. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organi

zation is located in the Seward neighborhood of South Minneapolis and offers a full glass studio curriculum taught by artists locally and nationally recognized, as well as programming for youth, corporate group experiences, events, and exhibitions. Our goal is to be a safe space for all to feel welcome and engaged, creating experiences that motivate curiosity, build excitement, and advance mastery.

National Night Out at Foci MCGA!

On Tuesday, August 4, Foci MCGA joined our community for National Night Out right here in the neighborhood. We brought out our NEW mobile glassblowing furnace and trailer and put on live glassblowing demonstrations for the public.

It was a great opportunity to bring glassmaking outside of the studio, connect with our neighbors, and give people a chance to see the process up close.A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, watched a demonstration, asked questions, and helped us celebrate community!

On the final day of Youth & Teen Camps at Foci MCGA, let’s take a look back at all of the wonderful things our campers created this summer!

From their first time working with glass to trying new techniques, experimenting with color, and bringing their own ideas to life, it has been an incredible summer of creativity, learning, and making.

We’re so proud of everything our campers created — and even more proud of the curiosity, confidence, and creativity they brought into the studio each week.

Thank you to all of our campers, families, instructors, and teaching artists who made this summer so special.

Don’t forget about scholarships!

Foci MCGA offers several scholarship opportunities to help make our camps and Core Classes more accessible.

Our next quarterly scholarship deadline is September 1, and applications are free to submit. If you’re interested in taking a Fall 2026 Core Class but cost is a barrier, we encourage you to apply.

🔥 **Ready to take your flameworking skills to the next level?** 🔥

Turn up the torch and discover the possibilities of borosilicate glass in our **Intro to Flameworking** Core Class!

Over six weeks, you'll build a strong foundation in flameworking as you learn to safely melt, shape, and manipulate glass over the torch. Starting with marbles, pendants, marias, and other solid forms, you'll gain confidence with heat control, torch settings, hot and cold seals, and essential techniques before progressing to pulling points and your first blown forms. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills to continue your flameworking journey with confidence.
