🌟Applications are open for the Fund for Safety! 🌟

WFM prioritizes ending all forms of violence that affect women, girls, and gender-expansive people including sexual violence, physical violence, state and structural violence, and exploitation and abuse experienced by elders and people with disabilities. The Fund responds to community concerns to eliminate barriers to health, economic, gender, and racial equity.

Grants of $25,000 including $20,000 for programmatic support and $5,000 dedicated to staff wellness.

🚲 Have a bike you’re no longer using? Give it a new life.

Montgomery County, MD Department of Transportation is holding its annual Bicycle Donation Drive Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. outside the Montgomery County Council Office Building Garage at E. Jefferson and Monroe streets in Rockville.

Donated bikes in good condition or needing only minor repairs will be refurbished and matched with children and adults through local programs. Since 2020, MCDOT’s Bike Match Program has provided bikes to more than 1,000 Montgomery County residents, with another 450 people currently waiting for one.

The Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition (MIWSAC) invites you to a Listening Session exploring the tangible and intangible costs of sexual violence in Indigenous communities.

The last Costs of Sexual Violence in Minnesota Report was released almost twenty years ago, found here:https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/svp/documents/svcosts.pdf and was leveraged by community partners to advance sexual violence prevention and response work across the state.

The Minnesota Department of Health Sexual Violence Prevention Program (MDH SVPP) is excited to announce work on a new and updated Costs of Sexual Violence in Minnesota report in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA), the Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls Office (MMBWG), and the Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition (MIWSAC). As part of this process, the project team is gathering information throughout the state of Minnesota to better understand the true cost of sexual violence.

There are many costs of sexual violence, including financial, emotional, physical, spiritual, societal, organizational, government services or treatment costs, MN-specific costs, community-specific costs, and more. MIWSAC is committed to ensuring Indigenous voices and experiences are included.
