We’ve been slinging pancakes and stirring up grits for a long time! And it happens because volunteers show up to make it possible—mixing batter, loading and unloading supplies, setting up tables, cutting fruit, washing dishes. Here are a few behind-the-scene photos from across the years, and sign up in our bio to help make *this* year’s pancake breakfast a success! 💜 🥞 📚

We’re around the town! Tag us in your flyer pics and send it to your friends, family, neighbors, and group chats. And if you haven’t added it to your calendar, mark April 25 for WPBP’s annual pancake breakfast and book sale. Stop by New City Center between 8a-12p for pancakes, community, and solidarity. Sliding scale, we can’t wait to see you there!

It’s that time of year! 🗓️ Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25, for Women’s Prison Book Project’s annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. 🥞 Eat pancakes, gather with neighbors, and make sure people incarcerated in Minnesota and across the country can receive books and resources they request. As a completely volunteer-run, grassroots organization, we rely on events like this to fund our work. We also believe that a future beyond mass incarceration and state violence requires all of us working together. 📚 That’s why all the proceeds from our book sale will go to Neighbors Helping Neighbors ( ) to continue ongoing support for immigrant families in our community. We can’t wait to gather with you all. 💜
Come anytime between 8a and noon. It’s pay what you can, with a sliding scale, suggested donation between $10-$20 for adults and $5 for kids. Cash and cards accepted.

Over the past few years, we’ve brought hundreds of volunteers together to write thousands of letters to people who are incarcerated across the country. And we know these letters help break through the isolation of prison and provide solidarity and care. Due to the current occupation in Minnesota and capacity, we are postponing our traditional Valentine’s Day letter writing campaign (don’t worry, we are committed to doing one later in the year.) But we know it’s still important to gather, and the people who request books from us still need connection. ❤️ So we’re doing a pop-up at on Saturday, February 14 between 12-4p. ❤️ We’ll have blank valentines you can write to people incarcerated in Minnesota specifically, as well as ones that we’re coordinating with Advocates for Immigrants in Detention Northwest () to send to people currently in immigrant detention. Swing by and support a local business (beer, seltzer, THC, and non-alcoholic drinks for sale), write a letter or two, and bring by some specific items in collaboration with to benefit Haven Watch. Hope to see you there, and if not, we’ll have packets ready for you later in 2026. 📝

Whether you were among the tens of thousands of people who flooded the streets today, or you stayed close to home to protect your neighbors or do mutual aid—thank you for showing up. Grateful for the folks who spent their evening picking and packing books to send to people incarcerated across the country. And to all those who dropped off art supplies at our space to donate to families forced to shelter from ICE. The cruelty we’re up against is heartbreaking and brutal, but we’re showing them how powerful, organized, and united we are—even in negative degree weather. ♥️

Tomorrow is the statewide strike! 🪧 Friday’s Day of Truth and Freedom is a chance to shutdown the state and demonstrate our collective resistance against ICE’s occupation in our cities. WPBP is hosting a bonus volunteer mailing tomorrow as yet another landing space for folks to resist mass incarceration and the prison-to-detention pipeline. Link in bio to sign up.

We’ll also be collecting art supplies and materials for children and families sheltering in place because of ICE. You can drop supplies off at our building between 6-8p tomorrow or check out .resources.mpls for more ways to support.

Renee Nicole Good should still be alive.

Women’s Prison Book Project remains in solidarity with the immigrant rights groups and racial justice organizations that have been and are continuing to fight to abolish ICE, fix our inhumane immigration system, and build a future beyond policing.

The ICE agent who murdered Renee is part of a racist system that tears families apart and terrorizes and dehumanizes our Indigenous, Black, and brown neighbors. All systems that criminalize, detain, and incarcerate are ultimately one and the same—built and sustained by white supremacy—and they all must be dismantled.

We believe in a future beyond bars and beyond borders. And we will keep working toward that future, together, alongside you and this community that we love so much.
