25 years ago Ann, a nurse, and her patient Lois — both diagnosed with breast cancer — created the Breast Cancer Education Association. Now it has reached over 10,000 Minnesotans through screenings and outreach.

My own breast cancer was caught early, through a routine mammogram. I just got the EARLY Act reauthorized in the Senate. It improves early breast cancer detection. I’m also leading the Find It Early Act to make sure every health care plan covers screening.

This is about so much more than a competition. Bras of the Bay helps spread awareness about breast reconstruction options for people facing breast cancer. Having information and knowing what options are available can help survivors make choices that are right for them.

Nathan Salazar was the guest coach at a Dragon Divas’ clinic a few years ago. He coaches the LADBC and National USDA DragonBoat teams in Southern California and runs a camp each October. Coach Salazar planning a special camp next April.

From Coach Nath:
“This will be an international paddling event. It will be held at El Nido Palawan Philippines. This is a super wonderful island. Trust me!

Camp schedule will be very different, we may paddle from mid afternoon to evening. As mentioned in a recent post, I have a deal with a hotel and tour company and they extended my deadline to this friday. It is a minimum of 60. We are not quite there yet. Please sign up asap.”

Complete this form if you are signing up (committed to go, not just interested) to attend a dragon boat paddling Camp and to race with us in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines, on April 13-19, 2027. Details and cost have yet to be determined, based on commitment.
