Grateful for having been part of this event in solidarity with MN.
On February 6, we were asked by the Dropkick Murphy's if we'd consider letting them use our parking lot for a benefit concert. Exactly one month later there was a benefit concert in our parking lot. In order for that to happen a monumental amount of effort and a tremendous amount of cooperation were both necessary. Gina took on the job of getting the ball rolling and before long the City of Minneapolis, the Whittier Alliance, the police, the band, the Minneapolis Foundation and a half dozen other media, sound, stage, and PR people were all pulling in the same direction - to get this event off the ground in record time. We didn't have ideal weather (it's March for crying out loud), we started in the afternoon on a weekday, we had less than two weeks of PR, and it was the greatest event 26th and Nicollet has ever seen.
We are so grateful (and exhausted) for this event and everyone who made it possible. We are so grateful to everyone who came to the event, all of whom were in good spirits and full of generosity. We are so so grateful to the Dropkick Murphy's for choosing to perform for our neighborhood and city and to do it in our parking lot. It was a wild ride getting from there to here. Thank you for being on it with us.
