Rain is in the forecast, neighbors! Garbage and recycling will be collected tomorrow, Friday, October 9, in McKinley and North Minneapolis.

A little wet-weather prep helps keep collection day smooth and clean: keep cart lids closed so rainwater stays out and carts stay dry and light. Please bag and tie trash so nothing blows around the block on a windy, rainy morning. Don’t overfill or pack carts: manageable loads help keep everyone safe.

Set carts out by 6:00 AM. Leave space around them and keep carts clear of sidewalks, streets, parked cars, and collection equipment so crews can work safely.

We’re looking to have a permanent sign made for the McKinley Food Forest at 3434 Washington Ave N, something similar to the design shown below.

Do we have any local carpenters, artists, metalworkers, sign makers, or creative folks who could make something like this or know someone who can?

We’d love to support someone local and bring this vision to life right here in our community. 💚

Volunteers Needed This Friday!

McKinley Community Center is looking for 3–4 volunteers to help us fill garden beds at our new site:

Take one quick minute tonight to roll your black trash bin to the curb for garbage collection tomorrow, Friday, October 2. Please have it out by 6:00 AM.

Recycling is NOT collected this week, so keep your blue recycling bin off the curb.

🍂 COLLECTION REMINDER FOR MCKINLEY & NORTH MINNEAPOLIS 🍂

Garbage and recycling will be collected tomorrow, Friday, September 25.

Black bins OUT, Blue bins STAY.

Please place your garbage cart at the curb by 6:00 AM. As fall leaves begin to drop, keep loose leaves and other debris contained so they do not blow into streets or storm drains. Keep cart lids closed and leave clear space around your carts for collection equipment.

Join the McKinley Food Forest for our Brand New Garden volunteer planting event on Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at 3434 Washington Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55412.

We’ll build and fill garden beds and plant fruit and shade trees. Food and beverages will be provided, and all are welcome, come for an hour or stay for the afternoon!

📣 Heads up, neighbors! We're officially back to our regular garbage & recycling routine after the Labor Day holiday 🗑️♻️

Both garbage AND recycling will be collected TOMORROW, Friday, September 11.

A quick checklist to make collection day run smoothly:
✅ Place carts at the curb by 6:00 AM
✅ Keep lids closed so nothing blows away
✅ Leave a little breathing room around carts so the truck can grab them easily
✅ Keep carts clear of sidewalks, streets, and parked cars
