🏀 From the Northside to the NBA... and back again.

Devean George's story is one of talent, vision, and heart. A proud Northsider and Augsburg College graduate, Devean made history as the first Division III player drafted in the first round of the NBA, winning three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now, he’s building a legacy beyond basketball — investing in housing, education, and opportunity right here in North Minneapolis through George Group North and Building Blocks.

Meet Devean in person and grab a photo at the WCNO Annual Meeting! The first 12 youth to arrive will receive a free signed basketball! 🏀

Devean grew up right here in North Minneapolis, went on to win three NBA championships with the Lakers, and today he’s helping rebuild the Northside through affordable housing and community investment.

Partner Spotlight: Webber-Camden youth got a chance to experience the Mississippi River up close thanks to our partners at Paddle Bridge Guide Collective and the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization.

For many, it was their first time kayaking. Beyond paddling skills, youth learned about river safety and how local actions affect the health of our watershed. Experiences like these build lasting connections between young people and the environment right in their backyard.
