The heartbreaking truth behind CSA data is that it only reflects a small portion of the reality. Many cases of child abuse and neglect go unreported, leaving countless children without the support and protection they deserve. By providing education, resources, and a trauma-informed environment, Midland Child Advocacy Center helps to reduce child abuse and offer local accessibility to combat Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES).

Your support enables us to provide critical child safety and abuse prevention services as Midland County’s only accredited Child Advocacy Center. Through your investment, you are directly protecting children, supporting families, and ensuring our community has access to vital resources.

Happy National Dog Day to our incredible Facility Dog, Basil!

This is a drawing made by an 8-year-old for Basil's pawffice door and we couldn't agree more with the sticker choices! Basil is such a source of comfort and support for children, families, our staff, and partners. We love you, Basil! 💚💙🐾

Our prevention team partners with schools across Midland County to teach kids how to stay safe and what to do if they ever experience abuse.

Throughout the year, we’ll share snippets of these lessons as reminders of the important conversations you can continue having with the children in your life. Preventing child abuse and neglect starts with education, and this program is a vital part of our mission.

Today’s focus: What Makes a Safe Adult.

Safe adults are people kids can trust—like teachers, school resource officers, principals, coaches, neighbors, family members, or friends’ parents. Talk with your child about who their safe adults are.

A safe adult will never ask a child to do something unsafe, like the behaviors in the 8 “Never Nevers” (for example, playing with fire or riding in a car without a seatbelt). Safe adults will also never engage in unsafe or unwanted touches.
These conversations help kids know who they can turn to and remind them that safe adults are there to protect and support them.

Thanks to support from the Midland Area Youth Impact Partnership, our staff at the Midland Child Advocacy Center brings these important lessons directly into classrooms.
