Well the hail and wind decided to add to their downed tree total😫We had a skinny Tipu that finally couldn’t handle the weather. West Coast Arborists were kind enough to get the tree removed . Thank you so much on short notice.
Now if there is anyone who would like to PRACTICE their tree cutting skills with a professional chainsaw we need your help. We only have pruning saw😬. Send me a message or text at 480-202-3022.

What’s with all the male Queen butterflies on the blue mistflower? 🦋💜
Think Axe body spray for butterflies. 😆 Males seek out natural plant chemicals that help them produce pheromones used to attract the ladies, OK, females. Apparently, this blue mist flower is the place to be (Conoclinium dissectum, also sold as Eupatorium greggii). 👩‍🌾🌱 POP-UP Volunteer Morning in the Rain Garden! 🌧️🌼

⏰ This Saturday, Sept. 19, 7:30–10 a.m.

Come get your hands dirty with us! We’ll be pruning trees, pulling summer weeds, planting wildflower seeds, and giving the Mesa Urban Garden rain garden a little love.

Wondering what a rain garden is? It’s the landscaped area in front of the garden, designed with curb cuts that capture stormwater and allow it to soak into the landscape... watering plants, reducing runoff and pollution, and making the most of our desert rain. 💧

Come prepared to work outside with closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and plenty of water. We’ll provide the weeds. 😄🌿

Come for an hour or stay for the morning - we’d love the help!

And right on the heels of Earth Day… 🌎 here comes Arbor Day! 🌳
Today’s the official day (last Friday in April) - a perfect time to show some love for trees.

Now… we know gardeners can have a complicated relationship with trees. 😉 We love the shade, the beauty, and the habitat they provide - but maybe not so much when they’re competing for water, space, or sunlight with our vegetable garden! We hope you have room for both! 🌳💚

🌏 Happy Earth Day!! We thought we'd share the official 2026 Earth Day Poster. Each year, EarthDay.Org selects one image to carry the message of the movement. For 2026, that image comes from Miles Wintner – a flower made of Earth, held in human hands. He calls it “Earthflower”– 🌸 a tender, bold reminder that flowers aren’t just decoration; they’re connection, linking birds, insects, and humans in a shared act of care. The world is in all of our hands. It always has been.

🌎 Find this list of 50+ things you can do... in fact, MUG is on this list.... so is composting... so is the seed library, and becoming a locavore (eating local food), shopping at farmers markets, and more. 🌎https://www.mesaaz.gov/Environment-Sustainability/Living-Green/Living-Green-Activities
