A few weeks ago, the Mesa Leadership Class of 2027 had the opportunity to tour ICAN at Adams Elementary, led by Mesa Leadership Class of 2025 alumna Becky Hinds!

ICAN provides free after-school programming for youth in Chandler and Mesa, helping support children and families in underserved communities. During the visit, class members learned more about the importance of out-of-school programming and the meaningful impact it has on local youth and their families.

Thank you to Becky and the ICAN team for welcoming our class and sharing more about the incredible work you do to support our community’s youth! 💙

Last Friday, the Mesa Leadership Class of 2027 gathered for their second class at the Arizona Museum of Natural History! 🦖

The day started with a review of the class’s lesson on Priorities, followed by the opportunity to hear from several community leaders. The class welcomed Speaker Deanna Villanueva Saucedo, Associate Vice Chancellor of the Center for Excellence in Inclusive Democracy at MCC; Simon Tipene Adlam, Director of the Arizona Museum of Natural History; and Sara Anderson from Just Serve.

The class then got a VIP Tour of the museum before diving into preparations for their upcoming small-group presentations and class project.

A big thank you to our speakers for sharing their time and experience with the Class of 2027, and to the Arizona Museum of Natural History for hosting us!

The Class of 2027 is officially on the road! 🚗

Tuesday marked the first tour for the Mesa Leadership Class of 2027, as participants visited La Mesita Apartments, an A New Leaf community serving families in Mesa.

The tour gave our class an inside look at how La Mesita provides more than just affordable housing. With 110 apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom homes, the community offers families a safe, stable place to call home, along with a strong network of local support and resources.

Thank you to A New Leaf for welcoming our class and sharing the important work happening at La Mesita!

Stay tuned as the Class of 2027 continues exploring Mesa, meeting community leaders, and learning about the organizations making a difference in our community!
