The Class of 2027 is officially on the road! đźš—

Tuesday marked the first tour for the Mesa Leadership Class of 2027, as participants visited La Mesita Apartments, an A New Leaf community serving families in Mesa.

The tour gave our class an inside look at how La Mesita provides more than just affordable housing. With 110 apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom homes, the community offers families a safe, stable place to call home, along with a strong network of local support and resources.

Thank you to A New Leaf for welcoming our class and sharing the important work happening at La Mesita!

Mesa Leadership kicked off the new class year for the Class of 2027 on Friday, August 7, 2026 at D**k & Dine Pickle Park at the Mesa Riverview center. The class will meet the first Friday of each month, culminating in completion of a class project, with many city activities, tours, ride-alongs, and shadow days to come, leading to graduation in May. Last Thursday, we officially welcomed the Mesa Leadership Class of 2027 during our annual Class Social at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Phoenix Mesa.

The evening gave classmates their first opportunity to connect with one another before the program officially gets underway. The event also included a welcome from Mesa Chamber President & CEO Sally Harrison, who greeted the new class as they embark on their leadership journey.

We are excited to welcome this outstanding group of leaders and look forward to following their experiences, growth, and impact throughout the year.

Mesa Leadership alumni gathered together last night to celebrate Mesa has Heart! The Mesa Chamber put on an amazing event highlighting businesses, non profit organizations, and all the wonderful people that make Mesa special.

Last night, Mesa Leadership celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026—the program’s 45th class.

The evening’s keynote speaker was AZ Industrial Commissioner and former Mesa City Councilmember Dennis Kavanaugh, a graduate of Mesa Leadership’s Class of 1985. Their class motto was “Often in error, but never in doubt.” He encouraged the Mesa Leadership grads to serve on boards such as the City’s Advisory Boards and the boards of nonprofits in the City of Mesa saying that this is where change and new laws come from, and the city needs civic leaders to help them accomplish these goals.

Class Rep Mary Teresa Marshall gave a baseball-inspired speech about the year, culminating in the class project, which was to build a courtyard for the new Arizona Baseball Museum.
