Lady Byrd is blossoming at her foster home but still needs a permanent family!

Per her foster

Lady has been enjoying the warmer weather nowadays! She’s still skittish but is always excited to cuddle whenever someone joins her in the bed

She does fine with other cats but is also fine solo. She needs a quiet home with somewhere comfy to sit and someone to love her.

Peter is a special boy who needs a special home.

Him being blind is not the issue. He gets around very well and his lack of eyesight does not negatively affect him whatsoever.

Peters bigger medical issue is that for reasons unknown - he is chronically constipated.

We have done xrays and tests but the exact cause remains a mystery. Maybe it’s congenital, but we don’t have a solid answer. We do expect it to be a chronic condition that can be managed. At this point he is only on a dose of miralax that is adjusted as needed to make sure hes not constipated- but it is a delicate balance.

The part of this situation that makes him harder to adopt is plainly speaking- sometimes the medicine that helps him not be constipated - makes him have loose stool.

We do not put diapers on him as they can cause irritation to skin.

So as you can imagine , finding someone who will adopt a blind kitty with bathroom issues is a hard sell.

But the thing is - Peter is the sweetest boy. He absolutely adores people and is very often trying to sit on your shoulder. He has been dealt a bad hand but you would never know it based on his attitude. He is under a year old and deserves a real life at home - but it has to be the best home for him.

We know that Peter may not be the perfect fit for you , but we ask that even if that is the case that you share/like this post in hopes that maybe it finds the right person- and a miracle finds Peter.

The adoption center is home to 150-300 cats at a time. It is the biggest part of our rescue and the reason we are able to help the number of animals we do each year. But one of the difficult things about a building this size is when things need to be addressed - they can’t wait. On Tuesday we realized the AC was leaking and immediately called to have it looked at. The price tag is something unexpected and even with the discounted price we were lucky enough to get we are looking at $12,000 for a replacement. We don’t have a choice though , the building is the cats temporary home and they are the number one priority - so it must be replaced and done quickly.

On top of this unexpected cost we had had 30+ cats vetted this week and over 20 of them needed to be spayed/neutered adding another $5,000 to our cost…..for the week.

We still have another 60+ kittens and moms to fix. Dozens of adult cats who recently entered rescue and need dentals , bloodwork , vaccines. We are looking at a mountain of cost ahead of us , but we cant stop.

We are at $17,000 in vet and HVAC bills in the last seven days. We are a nonprofit rescue and even with our fundraisers and donations we are lucky enough to receive from the community the truth is …we really need some help.

Every little bit helps , so does every like/share/follow.

UPDATE - has an application pending but please keep in mind we have several other seniors !

On Saturday we took in thirteen more adult cats and another group of kittens.

The most upsetting was sweet Lady Lacey. She is seventeen years old.

Owner surrenders come in for all kinds of reasons - and we do our best to be understanding that sometimes things happen and situations arise where surrender is the best choice. This was not the case for Lacey.

On her paperwork for reason for surrender she wrote - she sheds a lot.

We did explain to her owner that cats this age are easily stressed in a new environment and harder to adopt. She didn’t seem to care very much.

Tomorrow we will get her senior bloodwork done and have her looked at by our vet. She is doing very well but we can’t help but be devastated for this sweet senior girl.

She is incredibly friendly, has lived with other cats and we are hoping someone will fall in love with her and adopt her soon.

In the meantime , she’s safe with us.

Our little girl Dawlish had her eye removed and got fixed yesterday and is already up and ready to play! She has an adoption pending and is ready to go home as soon as she’s done with her medical care.

We still have plenty of kittens and cats waiting to meet you - we are open tomorrow 10-4 at 1465 Cypress Ave , Melbourne FL.

Our well rooms are filled with cats 1-15 years old and we are desperately in need of adopters for our adult cats. We have a new group of surrenders coming off our waiting list this weekend but need more adult cats to find their way home!

There are so many friendly , funny , sweet kitties ready for their forever homes. Please come in and meet them , sometimes you’re surprised by who picks you.

This weekend we took in 23 kittens and 3 adult cats.

We have sixty plus kittens at foster homes until they are big enough to fix but we have many others in the building who can be seen during adoption events! We have so many other kitties of all ages also patiently waiting for their homes.

Most of the new kitties have URI , and will need meds and care before they are ready to get fixed.

We are a 501c3 rescue and are completely reliant on our volunteers and the community to help us continue our work.

If you are interested in volunteering for a cleaning shift
- one commited day a week for a few hours or
-fostering adults or kittens
-helping at Petsmart adoptions

Please email us at [email protected]
We are currently only taking volunteers 18+

Every dollar helps us with our vet bills and every day operations.

Hi, I’m Bingus! My current pawrents are soon going through some lifestyle changes that would leave me by myself for several hours so I’m looking for a new home with pawrents that won’t be gone for long stretches of time or that already have a cat for me to play with. Even though I can be timid at first, I’m very affectionate. I love hanging my people, making biscuits and getting lots of pets. I’m also talkative kitty. I will let you know when I want your attention and will never let you forget to feed me! I love playing and my night time zoomies. If you have a screened in patio, I would love to sunbathe and chase lizards in it. I am harness trained but I don’t like going far from home. I prefer just to sit in the grass with you and roll around. I did previously have a urinary blockage so I will need to be on a special diet to prevent this from happening again. My current pawrents have spoiled me with lots of stuff (cat tree, automatic litter box and feeder, lots of toys) so if you adopt me I will be ready for my new home.
