Melbourne Community Orchestra

Melbourne Community Orchestra Orchestra in Residence for the City of Melbourne Our musicians include current and past professionals, as well as, gifted amateurs and students.

The Melbourne Community Orchestra is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free musical performances to the community. All of our musicians are volunteers, and they practice, rehearse and perform for nothing in return, except the pure joy they feel when they get to play for an audience. Under the baton of our dynamic conductor, Dr. Mark P. Nelson, the orchestra continues to grow both mu

sically and in number, but we are always looking for new recruits! MCO’s goal is to bring joy to the community through music. Each one of our performances is a tribute to this pursuit, as we put our hearts into everything we play. We are dedicated to supporting the arts and culture here in Melbourne both with our free concerts, but also through community outreach and music education. We are honored to serve the City of Melbourne for over thirty years, and we hope to continue this service for years to come. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 pm at 1924 Melody Lane Melbourne, FL 32901

👋🎶 And just like that… we’ve said Hello!

What an incredible way to begin MCO’s 37th season. ❤️

For weeks, we’ve been introducing you to the musicians behind the music. You met our featured players, learned about their instruments, peeked inside our rehearsals, discovered some musical history…and endured a truly impressive number of terrible orchestra memes. 😂

Then, for the past two nights, we finally got to share the most important part with you:

the music.

Thank you to everyone who filled the Melbourne Auditorium, cheered for our musicians, laughed with us, sang along, and helped make our first concerts of Getting to Know You so special.

And a HUGE congratulations to all of our featured musicians who stepped out from their usual places in the orchestra and into the spotlight. We loved getting the chance to introduce our audience to you. ❤️

Tonight may have been our final Hello!, but we’re just getting started.

Our 37th season is officially underway, and there are a whole lot more stories, surprises, laughs, and beautiful music ahead.

For now, enjoy a few moments from tonight. 📸

Thanks for getting to know us, Melbourne. It was wonderful to meet you. 👋❤️🎶

Next stop: After Dark. 🌙😈

🎶 Well… THAT was one heck of a Hello! 👋❤️

Opening night of our 37th season is officially in the books, and what a way to start!

After weeks of rehearsals, soloist spotlights, instrument facts, questionable memes, and helping you get to know the musicians behind MCO, tonight we finally got to do what we love most:

Make music for YOU. 🎶

Thank you to everyone who came out to spend opening night with us! We loved seeing the Melbourne Auditorium filled with familiar faces, new friends, and so much energy. ❤️

And the best part?

WE GET TO DO IT ALL AGAIN TOMORROW! 🎉

📯 French Horn Week: when the meme becomes reality.

We found the meme.

We looked at Cassidy.

We looked back at the meme.

And realized…

Yep. This checks out. 😂

Apparently wearing your bell as a hat is just part of the French horn experience. Who are we to question tradition? 🎩📯

And because Cassidy is such a good sport, we now have photographic evidence that she is exactly where she belongs. 🤣❤️

But tonight, the horn stays OFF her head because…

IT’S OPENING NIGHT!!! 🎉🎶

After weeks of introducing you to our musicians, sharing the stories behind the music, and relentlessly making fun of nearly every instrument in the orchestra, it’s finally time to say HELLO!

🎶 PENCILS DOWN. FINAL REHEARSAL COMPLETE. ✏️😂

That’s it. No more rehearsals. No more “Can we take that one more time?” No more pretending we’ll definitely remember that note Mark gave us three weeks ago. 😇

Tomorrow, we say HELLO! 👋🎶

Tonight was our final rehearsal before MCO officially kicks off its 37th season, and we are SO ready to share this concert with you!

For the past several weeks, you’ve gotten to know our musicians through soloist spotlights, fun facts, rehearsal peeks, and an arguably excessive number of instrument memes. 😂 Now it’s finally time to hear what we’ve been working on!

Enjoy one last peek behind the scenes… because tomorrow, we trade the band room for the stage. ❤️

📯 French Horn Week continues…

French horn players:
“…I’m going to need a minute.” 😳😂

Tubing. Tubing everywhere.

Somewhere in there is a perfectly logical path from the mouthpiece to the bell. We’re told. 🤷‍♀️

Thankfully, Cassidy knows exactly what to do with all of it—and you can hear her TOMORROW NIGHT when Hello! officially kicks off MCO’s 37th season! 🎉
