A big Thank You to Food Lion for their amazing gift to our food pantry. We are so blessed to have local companies that support our mission in helping those in crisis in our community. We received a whopping 1056 items from Food Lion managers in Martinsville, Roanoke and Danville! We are grateful!

The Martinsville-Henry County SPCA will host an adoption event Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Petsense on Commonwealth Boulevard.

The SPCA said adoption fees will be reduced and include spay or neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping and deworming.

Organizers encourage the community to attend and give pets a second chance at a home.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about fake “court notices” claiming to be from Virginia courts regarding unpaid tolls, traffic violations or fines.

The sheriff’s office said the notices may appear official and include court seals, case numbers or QR codes, but they are not legitimate.

Authorities are asking residents not to scan QR codes, send payments or share personal information, and to contact a verified court number or the sheriff’s office at 276-656-4200 if they have questions.

This is great news!!

Fostering Champions announced it has officially begun construction on a Martinsville home for teens aging out of foster care.

The organization said the home will provide safety and support for young people transitioning out of the foster system.

A gala fundraiser is planned for May 15 at 6 p.m. at New College Institute, with tickets priced at $50.
