According to the National Fatherhood Initiative, There is a crisis in America. According to the US Census Bureau, 24 million children in America, one out of every three lives in a household without their biological father. Consequently, there us a “father factor” in nearly all of the societal ills facing America and our community as well. Research shows that when a child is raised in a father-absent home, he or she is affected in many ways. Children are more likely to have behavioral problems, more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, two time more likely to suffer obesity, and two times more likely to drop out of high school. The goal of this program is:
To educate men in a male-friendly environment where they can discuss a variety of subjects without fear of judgment or reprisal. To provide a group led by members of your peers who understand the complexities and joys of fatherhood. This group will meet twice a month for three months and the participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the third month.
