🖤🎃 October is Black Cat Awareness Month! 🎃🖤

With Halloween just around the corner, black cats are everywhere—but unfortunately, so are some of the old superstitions surrounding them. 🐈‍⬛✨ For centuries, black cats have been unfairly associated with bad luck and spooky folklore.

But there’s nothing unlucky about these beautiful kitties! 🖤 Black cats are just as loving, playful, goofy, and deserving of a forever home as any other cat.

So, this October, let’s leave the superstitions in the past and celebrate black cats for what they really are: lovable, wonderful companions waiting for their people. 🐾🧡

🐐 WE HAVE GOATS! 🐐💚

And not just any goats — meet Talia, Maximus & Tyson! 👋

This friendly trio is around 6 years old and believed to be Nigerian Dwarf goats (or mixes). Talia is our unspayed female, while Maximus and Tyson are our two neutered boys.

They’re very friendly, curious, and always interested in what’s happening around the farm — especially when there are other animals to investigate! 👀🐴🐓

They’ve lived together and we would prefer to find them a home together, so we’re hoping to find them a farm with appropriate goat housing, secure fencing, shelter, and plenty of space to safely explore. 🏡🐐

Think you might have room for this adorable trio? Talia, Maximus & Tyson are available for adoption! 💛

“But if the adoption fee is waived, how do you make sure the animals are still going to good homes?” 🐾

We get this question a lot — and the answer is simple: waiving a fee does NOT mean waiving our adoption process. 💛

Every MHF adoption still goes through our qualified adoption team, who takes the time to get to know each potential adopter and make sure the animal is a good fit for their home and lifestyle.

Our process includes:
🐾 An adoption application reviewed by our team
🐾 Conversations about the adopter’s household, lifestyle, and experience
🐾 Meeting the animal and making sure the match is appropriate
🐾 Veterinary reference checks when applicable
🐾 Verification that current pets are up to date on vaccines
🐾 Additional checks or requirements when an animal’s individual needs call for them

And most importantly, our team can say no. An adoption is never approved simply because someone is willing to take an animal home.

Our goal is always the same — whether an adoption fee is $0 or our regular fee: finding the right forever home for each animal. A waived-fee special simply removes a financial barrier; it does not lower our standards for where our animals go. 🐶🐱💛

We take the responsibility of placing our animals seriously, and our adoption team is here to make sure each match is a thoughtful one.
