⛵️ 4th Annual Club Championship — Day Sailer Trophy 🏆
Last Sunday brought a true test of sailing skill, with a strong, shifty westerly and six races sailed in a brand-new fleet of boats. With few advantages beyond sound tactics and solid boat handling, the conditions kept everyone on their toes.

Every team managed finishes in both the top and bottom three, and two teams even had scorelines featuring both a 1st and last-place finish. Of the eight boats competing, one team stood out with just a single finish outside the top two.

Congratulations to Vice Commodore Larry Ehrhardt and his crew — Kelsey Wheeler, Charlotte List, and George Malcomson — on a commanding victory in the 4th Annual Club Championship for the Day Sailer Trophy! 🏆

A huge thank-you to everyone who made the event possible:

Elke Backman raced her Frers 36 Saraband in the Offshore 160 Singlehanded Challenge hosted by Newport Yacht Club earlier this month. The 160-mile race is held every other year and serves as an introductory race to singlehanded offshore sailing. Congratulations to Elke on a third place finish in Class 2, with an elapsed time of 1 day, 4 hours, and 26 minutes. Congratulations, Elke!

A proper christening for the new EYC Sonars 🌧️⛵️

The rain held off just long enough for the ceremony, then arrived right on cue as the christening ended. As the saying goes, a wet knot is a good knot.

Fair winds, fast reaches, and many great memories ahead.

Kick off the season at the Tour the Bay Pursuit Race⛵️🌊

Set off from Marblehead Harbor for a scenic and competitive sail through Salem sound, including iconic locks marks like Children’s Island, Halfway Rock, the Gooseberries, and Misery Island. With a pursuit-style start, boats go off based on rating- keeping the racing tight and exciting all the way around the course.

After the final leg, head back to shore and join fellow sailors at the EYC sailing center for a well-earned post race celebration with chowder, hot dogs, drinks, and great company.

Silver on the harbor💪

Team EYC takes 2nd place at the Jackson Cup, going head-to-head with top teams from across the country and the UK.

From sunny skies, light air and cloudy starts, shifty conditions around 55 degrees with an easterly breeze, it was a weekend that tested patience, teamwork, and tactics on every leg.

Strong racing, tight finishes, and a statement start to the season, congrats team EYC!

The Spring Laser Frostbite Series started Saturday with a wild windy day of racing. Races were started straight from the Pleon float allowing for top notch spectating. Everyone in the fleet capsized at least once. Patrick Andreasen won the day with smart consistent upwinds and gains on almost every downwind. Tom Daily was second and Chip Terry rounded out the podium. Next week the series will go back to its normal Sunday at 100 time slot.
