Marblehead Female Humane Society

Marblehead Female Humane Society The Marblehead Female Humane Society is Marblehead’s oldest charitable organization. There are currently over 600 members.

The Society’s by-laws now state, “The object of the Corporation shall be to establish and support programs dedicated to the maintenance and care of people of all ages, and to engage in activities having a general charitable and benevolent purpose in Marblehead.”

Dues are still $1.20 per year. In order for an individual or organization to receive financial assistance a referral must be made. Most

referrals come through the Marblehead Council on Aging and the Marblehead Counseling Center. School counselors, principals, houses of worship, and heads of various organizations can also write letters of referral asking for financial assistance. At the meetings, the Directress reads the requests, anonymously, and the Board votes whether or not to fund the request and the amount to be given. The Society supports Marblehead residents exclusively.

Memorial Day schedule of Events from the Marblehead Independent

It can look like a Norman Rockwell painting — the flags, the regiment, the crowds along the parade route to Waterside. But at its heart, Marblehead's Memorial Day weekend is four days of honoring the town's war dead. The full schedule and speaker line up, May 22-25, can be found in a first-comment link below.

A helpful and important resource list compiled by Making Ends Meet

TO FRIENDS OF MAKING ENDS MEET:
We're starting to get information from the schools on the most likely scenario that SNAP benefits will cease until the government shutdown is resolved. Following are resources available to members of our community who need them and ways you can contribute. Making Ends Meet stands ready to provide assistance in any way we can.
____________________________________________________________________

Dear Marblehead Families,

SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) may not be distributed in November due to the federal shutdown. While it’s uncertain whether the shutdown will continue, this could create a sudden gap for families who rely on SNAP for food. Local food pantries are aware and preparing, but resources are limited—especially with Thanksgiving approaching. These community resources may be helpful whether or not the shutdown affects November benefits.

If you are able to help:
There are many ways to get involved through the local organizations listed below. The best way to provide immediate support is by donating to the Marblehead Food Pantry and sharing this information in your community.

The Marblehead Food Pantry serves more than 100 registered families and expects this number to grow in the coming weeks. Community support can make a real difference.

The 12th bi-annual Service Provider Meeting was held at the YMCA on Tuesday, October 28th. This is a group of non-profit community organizations and town departments who meet twice a year to share updates on what services/programs they are providing to support our community and to discuss the continuing challenges, such as affordable housing, food insecurity, isolation of seniors, mental health issues, substance use, child care, etc. Resource information is shared. For more information, go to the Community Resources tab on the Town of Marblehead website at MarbleheadMA.gov
