NYFA and Culture Lab LIC are excited to invite you to a Queens Artists Listening Session with New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Diya Vij!

On September 23 at Culture Lab LIC, Commissioner Diya Vij will engage the Queens community in a conversation to hear their ideas for what artists need to live and work with dignity in our city, and learn more about the successes, challenges, and needs of artists and cultural workers in Queens.

🌱Announcing: the 2026 Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants (AWAW EAG) Recipients⁠🌱

In the 2026 cycle, a total of $498,180 in grant funding was awarded to 27 projects!⁠
⁠
The program, now in its fifth year, provides one-time grants of up to $20,000 to support environmental art projects led by women, transgender, and gender-nonconforming artists from the U.S. and U.S. territories.
⁠
This year's projects will focus on environmental issues and advocacy in California, Guatemala, Iowa, New York, Nevada, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Wisconsin.

The AWAW EAG is made possible by Anonymous Was A Woman, with additional funding provided by individual donors.⁠

NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship's crowdfunding partner is Seed&Spark!

Here, we're sharing a few recent success stories from the platform.

⚡Alvin Tsang completed a successful campaign for "Painting Ecological Engineers," raising $27,255. The feature-length doc follows workers’ rights lawyer/artist Siyan Wong, who took an interest in “canners” – the people who collect and redeem cans and bottles on the street to survive.

⚡Clara Riedlinger and Dan Lynch completed a successful campaign for Flower City Square Dance, raising $10,425. Flower City Square Dance holds dances with live music quarterly at multiple venues within the city of Rochester, NY. Still from video by Julia Golonka.

⚡Jordan Panzier completed a successful campaign for "Lost Dog," raising $7,492. "Lost Dog," written and directed by Panzier, is a trans coming-of-age short film shot in Brooklyn in June 2026.
