Thank you to Roger Susanin and WFSB’s Unscripted for having Root Center’s Chief Communications Officer, Margaux Hyde, on to talk about Root Center’s work across Connecticut and the importance of International Overdose Awareness Day. 💜

Conversations like these matter. They help raise awareness, reduce stigma, honor the lives we’ve lost and remind those impacted by substance use that recovery is possible and that support is available.

We’re grateful to Roger and the WFSB team for giving us the opportunity to share our mission and shine a light on such an important day.

Check out the conversation! 🎥

Community, connection, and conversation. 💜

This International Overdose Awareness Day, Root Center teams joined communities in New London, Torrington, and Guilford to share resources, raise awareness, and support those impacted by substance use.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with community members and partners as we work together to promote healing, reduce stigma, and expand access to support and recovery services.

Our teams across Connecticut came together yesterday to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day. 💜

From Middletown and Norwich to Hartford and New London, staff and community members took time to remember those lost to overdose, support those impacted by substance use, and reflect on the importance of hope, healing, and recovery.

While each location observed the day in its own way, we were united by a shared commitment to remembrance, compassion, and community.

💜 Today, Town of Glastonbury staff are wearing purple in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.

From department to department, our staff came together to remember those lost to overdose, support those in recovery, and show our community that these conversations matter.

We also invite residents to share their stories. Whether your experience involves your own substance use, that of a loved one, recovery, loss or hope, sharing stories can reduce stigma and build understanding while reminding others that they are not alone.

As our shirts say, talking about overdose could save a life. So, "let's talk."

Today, Root Center welcomed community members, partners, and advocates for our International Overdose Awareness Day Remembrance Ceremony. 💜

Together, we honored the lives lost to overdose, stood alongside those impacted by substance use, and recognized the ongoing need for support, education, and recovery services in our communities.

Thank you to our community partners at Wheeler Health and TriCircle for helping make this event meaningful. TriCircle's memorial quilts served as a powerful tribute to the individuals whose lives were lost and the loved ones who continue to carry their memory forward.

Together, we remember. Together, we support. Together, we continue working toward a future filled with hope, healing, and recovery.
