“Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”” - Matthew 14:31
If you’re not familiar with this story, Peter was a friend and follower of Jesus’ who, when he saw Jesus walking on water, tried to do the same thing. But when Peter saw the storm and winds around him, he became scared and started to sink. He took his eyes off of Jesus and began to look at all the reasons why he shouldn’t be able to do the impossible.
I started Helping Hands with a financial goal of $500, but expected to raise less than $50. I’ve had a desire to launch this ministry since last fall, but didn’t have the faith that God would provide. I expected that I would try, fail, and look back on this period of time with shame and regret. Like Peter, I was looking at my own humanity and why I couldn’t succeed in my own strength.
wow. Instead of disciplining my lack of faith, God decided to show off His extravagant Love and remind me that he doesn’t need my words or actions to prove His goodness. Even when my eyes weren’t on Him, He was already reaching out to me.
Within 3 days of launching the fundraiser for Helping Hands, the goal was exceeded more than 3 times over. So many of you have reached out to me expressing that this same desire has been on your heart (I’ll reach out to you all this weekend!) The offers of partnerships and supplies have humbled and awed me.
I can’t thank you enough for all the love and support you have shown this ministry. If you know of any churches, non-profits or other individuals that might be interested in partnering with us, please send me a DM.
Over the next few weeks, we will start to purchase supplies and assemble the Blessing Bags. My deepest hope is that this will not be a one-time initiative, but an on-going ministry that will blossom into something even more incredible than what it has already become. 💛
Soli Deo Gloria!
