Planned Parenthood health centers in ME, NH, and VT will be closed on Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth.

On this day, the Union Army made its way to Texas to announce that all enslaved people were free, as declared by the Emancipation Proclamation, which was signed two years prior. It’s important to acknowledge the history of racism and oppression that continue to plague this country.

There are many ways to observe Juneteenth, including programming by Black Lives Matter New Hampshire and Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire. Let’s spend today reflecting, participating, and honoring the importance of the day.

On 603 Day, we celebrate the critical legislation that helped protect the future of abortion access in New Hampshire. Today, we want to thank Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. From her prescient decision as governor to repeal pre-Roe anti-abortion laws in New Hampshire 29 years ago to her decades of advocacy for Granite Staters in the U.S. Senate, her leadership has been instrumental in protecting our health, rights, and freedoms.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court halted an attempt to restrict access to mifepristone, a drug commonly used in medication abortion and in miscarriage care. This case was not rooted in science or medicine and should never have gotten as far as it did. The bottom line is that despite the confusing headlines, you can still access a medication abortion if you need one.
