Today is the New York City Primary election and newcomer Darializa is going up against incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat for his seat in Congress. Adriano’s former Senior Advisor Rusking Pimentel has been spreading absurd rumors that Darializa and Mamdani are planning to replace Dominicans in Washington Heights with Haitians and Muslims. The accusation is wild and clearly directed at Darializa who is Muslim and Dominican, but his supporters are claiming she is Haitian and using racism and islamophobia in order to scare people away from voting for her.
