At OEOF, we tackle NH's biggest challenges—high living costs, an unfair tax system, the housing crisis + underfunded public services—by pushing for bold tax reforms + people-first budgets that invest in schools, health care, housing + thriving communities

Turns out the numbers don’t lie. 👀
We put Granite Staters to the test on who’s getting ahead in our economy + who’s being left behind. And spoiler, most of us ain’t gettin ahead.

Remember that whole "American Dream" idea? When working a full time job meant you could save up to buy a house one day?

For most working people in NH, that dream is out of reach + not getting closer. It's a pretty clear sign the economy is rigged against us when buying a started home requires a fortune. And politicians in Congress + Concord aren't doing what it takes to lower costs. Ready for change? Make a plan to vote for leaders who want to actually end the housing crisis.

How insane is it that the top 0.1% own AS MUCH wealth as the bottom 90% COMBINED?!? So uhh do you think it's time we tax the ultra-rich to fund our future or what?

NH has a reputation for being a “low-tax” state. But that reputation always leaves out a big part of the picture... local property taxes.

When looking at state + local taxes combined, NH ranks 32nd in the nation! ($5,669 per person each year).

What does that mean? When politicians cut taxes for the wealthy + corporations, that just means the costs get shifted onto the rest of us with higher property tax bills + more expensive rent.

Why are we settling for a health care system that lets people die because they can’t afford care?

Drug companies are raking in record profits. Their CEOs are making millions. And working people are still skipping care because they can’t afford it.

Now, cuts to Medicaid are putting health care even further out of reach for working families—while the wealthiest people + corporations get another round of tax breaks.

How is this the system we’ve settled for? People shouldn’t have to choose between getting the care they need + paying their bills. Enough is enough.

Everywhere we go, we hear the same story—from local business owners, parents, young people... it's the same story. This economy isn't working for us.

If we're going to rebuild our economy to work for us by making the 1% + corporations pay their fair share, it's gonna take all of us. Together, we can win.

The rigged economy has become a wicked bad joke. But if you're not laughing, you're crying. 🤷‍♀️

The latest round of tax cuts? Working families got a little extra—about $60.

The top 1%? About $69,000.

Not a typo. That’s literally over 1,000x more, stacked on top.

And here in NH, eliminating the interest and dividends tax handed another $100M+ to the top 1%.

One more tax break for the rich. One less bite for everyone else.

New Hampshire’s median home price just hit a record $580K—up 36% since May 2021, when it first crossed $400K.

We know people need homes. We know there aren’t affordable options. And yet, we’re still not building nearly enough housing that ordinary people can actually afford.

Why? Because lawmakers have failed to pass the policies + make the investments needed to meet the moment.

We should be doing *literally* whatever it takes to create housing people can afford—no matter how small, humble, or modest.

THIS IS NOT BRAIN SURGERY. IT IS JUST LOGIC.
