Based on a true story. Connecticut, 1663. After her mother is condemned and executed for witchcraft, Sarah Barnes struggles to protect her ailing sister while suspicion and hysteria spread through her Puritan community. Guided by the enigmatic Elizabeth Seager, Sarah is drawn toward forbidden knowledge and forced to confront what power, survival, and belief truly mean in a world eager to name its witches.

Piper’s beloved new play development festival returns for five electrifying nights of staged readings featuring daring new full-length plays by Brooklyn artists developed through the company’s Plays in Process lab.

Over the past year, playwrights have gathered monthly to share pages, interrogate ideas, and shape ambitious original work in front of a trusted artistic community. Now, audiences are invited into that process.

A little dog has snatched the part of Toto at the Legacy Theatre and is leashed to a new flavor of ice cream in the process.

The Legacy Theatre announced Friday that Gus, a resident of Stony Creek, has nabbed the role of the legendary character in its production of “The Wizard of Oz.”

Gus, who can typically be found at The Thimbleberry Seaside Deli & Ice Cream Shop, “is thrilled to be making his stage debut," a news release said.

In response, the local ice cream chain, Ashley’s, is developing an exclusive all-natural flavor called “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” It will be available later this month at The Thimbleberry, and at all other Ashley’s locations, according to a release.
