Tonight is the night! Join us for the opening reception of Inner Realms, an Arts for All Benefit Exhibition, presented by our friends at Carnelian Art Gallery.

Here is Fred Seger, one of the featured artists, on his work.

Tonight, we will celebrate all seven Featured Artists: GG, Peter "Pita" Daniels, Fred Seger, Paulina Ivanova, Ryan "Da Da Da Da" Cain, Zelda Bean and Alan
"Alwilt" Wiltgen, all of whom seek to explore and bring awareness to mental health through their respective works.

As always at Carnelian Art Gallery, admission on opening night is free, and light refreshments will be served.

At 6 pm, Pita Daniels, in a live recital, will read some of his poems to the accompaniment of friend and violinist, John Medura.

Also on opening night, a peer support specialist with NAMI Dane County will be on hand to provide resources to visitors who might be struggling with issues related to mental health.

As part of this exhibition, Carnelian Art Gallery will donate all art sale proceeds back to Arts for All Wisconsin. We're so grateful! Donations can also be made in person (during the opening reception, regular gallery hours and private gallery appointments), online using a QR code and/or by placing a check or cash donation in a box we will have at the gallery. Gallery visitors can also purchase art in person, or online via QR code that links to an online store. Help us reach the show's fundraising goal of $1,500!

“AFA recognizes the significance of this opportunity for Wisconsin-based artists with disabilities to show their work in a fresh, boutique gallery off Capitol Square, dedicated to economic accessibility and fostering creative connections. This is exactly the kind of exposure artists we represent are searching for," says Christina Martin-Wright, Executive Director of Arts for All Wisconsin about our upcoming exhibition.

"Inner Realms: An Arts for All Benefit Exhibition" opens on Friday, September 4. Join us for the opening reception at Carnelian Art Gallery, beginning at 5:00 pm, to celebrate the seven artists represented in this exhibition and the incredible works they have created. Alongside the art, a poetry reading with violin accompaniment will be held at 6:00 pm by featured artist Pita Daniels.

Armed with paint, scrapers, sponges, toothbrushes, and skewers, students in the Madison Metropolitan School District Summer Semester created these masterpieces.

And we didn’t stop there! We cut, snipped, and tore them up so we could use them to make collages. It’s all part of the process!

Calling all creatives 5 years and older: submissions for our Independence 250 Call for Creativity are still open until September 17!

Here’s a few of the submissions we’ve received so far to help inspire you.

This call for creativity is for all types of art, including dance, music, written work, 2-dimensional, and 3-dimensional that is centered around the theme of independence and is open to all Wisconsin residents.

From reflections on the Nation’s 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, to personal perspectives on navigating the world with a disability, the theme of independence can be interpreted in many ways.
