September is National Literacy Month, a time to celebrate the learners, educators, volunteers and programs expanding opportunity across Wisconsin.

Dolly Parton hoped she would be remembered for her books, not just her looks. The truth is, she will be remembered for both, and for so much more.

She will be remembered for music that moved the world, generosity that changed lives, and an unwavering belief in the power of books to open doors. Through her Imagination Library, Dolly helped shape generations of readers and showed what is possible when compassion becomes action.

We are grateful for her remarkable life and the legacy she leaves behind.

Open Doors for Refugees turns welcome into action. Through language learning, transportation assistance, household support and community connections, its staff and volunteers help refugees build new lives and a sense of belonging in the Madison area.

Tickets are now available for Gathering of Hope! Please join us Thursday, Oct. 8, at the beautiful WYSO Center for Music in Madison. The evening begins with a reception and networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by a brief program at 6 p.m. Guests can enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres while connecting and celebrating the impact of literacy across Wisconsin.
