In just a few short days, the House of DOV will begin rehearsing in the IDC Center for Dance, bringing to life a pilot program we’ve been working on for almost 2 years with the Morrison Shearer Foundation.
YOU can participate!! Come to the pop up community class next Wednesday 9/2 at 6:30pm and/or the open rehearsal and happy hour talkback on Friday 9/4 to get a behind the scenes perspective of the work, get in on the action, and make some connections with our Chicago dance siblings.
This work with House of DOV is a test run in creating a network of dance venues, support organizations, and small to mid-size dance groups that are committed to working together to support regional exchange and touring.
IDC’s new contribution to this is our Dance in a Blink program, which presents special, effervescent performances that are as fleeting as dance itself aim to build stronger regional connections and community through the arts. Dance in a BLINK performances are free and open to the public, with additional opportunities for Madison dance artists to create relationships with dance artists within driving distance. Let us know if you want to help make this magic happen, and stay tuned for future Dance in a Blink offerings!
Dance in a Blink is made possible by generous support from the Morrison Shearer Foundation, the Madison Arts Commission, and the Wisconsin Arts Board, and our new portable modular stage that lays the literal groundwork for these performances was made possible by contributions from Dane Arts, the SASY Neighborhood Association, the Marquette Neighborhood Association, and individual donations from generous local dance lovers.
