Returning to Shifting Gears this year is Karmic Flower Dance Company, led by IDC member Raka Bandyo!

Raka Bandyo began study of the Classical Indian Arts as a first-generation child born in the USA to Indian parents. She has been dancing and performing Odissi dance since age 4. While finishing her MS in Mechanical Engineering, she began teaching Odissi dance. In 2005, she moved to Madison, Wi to work full time in Healthcare IT. During this time, she continued teaching and performing with her ensemble the Karmic Flower Dance Company and as well as danced several years as a student member of Cycropia Aerial Dance. In the last several years, she cut back her IT work to part-time in order to further pursue a more focused study of the Indian Arts. In 2017, she became a Certificated Ayurvedic Practitioner. She is also a musician and student of Vedic Astrology and currently offers a drop-in meditation class at Main Street Yoga on Sunday evenings.

Don’t miss Karmic Flower at McPike Park on Labor Day, this coming Monday, September 7th!
