Labor Day Closure Reminder!

🎉 Welcome to the team, Mari! 💙🧡

While pursuing her education in dental hygiene, Mari is joining MDM first as a volunteer and then as an AmeriCorps VISTA Programs Assistant for the next year!

A familiar face at MDM, Mari has previously volunteered in our Madison clinic and served on our 2025 Dominican Republic dental mission. 🦷🌎

In her new role, Mari will support programs across our mission, including helping expand the resources we connect patients with when their needs extend beyond our four walls.

We love Mari’s heart to serve, fun-loving spirit, and eagerness to learn — and we’re SO happy to have her with us for the year ahead! 🧡

In her spare time, Mari loves staying active with volleyball, basketball, soccer, pickleball, and spike ball, Bible studies, spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and volunteering!

🦷💙 FREE Oral Health Workshop at The River Food Pantry! 💙🦷

Mercy Dental Missions is excited to present an upcoming Oral Health Workshop for those in our community who are seeking dental guidance, resources, and support.

📍 The River Food Pantry Classroom - 3301 Packers Ave, Madison

We’ll share practical information about caring for your teeth and gums, understanding your oral health, accessing dental care, steps you can take toward a healthier smile, and the opportunity to ask questions. 🪥✨

💙 Space is limited! This workshop is especially intended for individuals and families who may have limited access to dental care or who truly need additional oral health information and support.

💙🦷 Everyone deserves access to quality dental care.

At Mercy Dental Missions, we know that cost, lack of insurance, and other barriers often keep people from getting the care they need. That's why we're here.

As a nonprofit dental clinic, we're sustained through the generosity of grants, fundraising, volunteers, donors, and our community. Because of that support, we're able to provide dental care at approximately 45% of traditional dental fees.

We proudly serve individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or simply fall into the gap (those who don't qualify for government assistance but still can't afford the cost of traditional dental care).

Our eligibility requirements are intentionally minimal because we believe in treating people with dignity, compassion, and trust. We welcome those who have delayed care due to cost, fear, or other life circumstances.

For more than a decade, our mission has remained the same: to make compassionate, high-quality dental care more accessible to those who need it most.

🌙🪥 Back-to-School Dental Tip

Did you know the most important time to brush is before bed?

While we sleep, our mouths produce less saliva, making it easier for cavity-causing bacteria to do their work. Brushing before bedtime removes plaque and food from the day, helping protect growing smiles while kids sleep. 😴✨

A two-minute bedtime brushing routine today can help prevent cavities tomorrow. 💙🦷

🎉🦷 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Maria Roque to Mercy Dental Missions! 💙🧡

Dr. Roque will be joining our team next week on September 1st! A Wisconsin native and Marquette University School of Dentistry graduate, she is passionate about providing gentle, compassionate, judgment-free care and helping patients feel informed and comfortable. She is also bilingual in English and Spanish!

“My goal as a provider is to make oral health accessible, straightforward, and stress-free for patients of all ages.”

We also want to share our gratitude for Dr. Kepler, who will remain with us through October 15th before transitioning to a traditoinal practice. We are so thankful for the care and dedication she has given our patients and mission. 💙

🎉🦷 Happy Work Anniversary Krysta! 🎉

Today we're celebrating the amazing leader at the heart of Mercy Dental Missions, our Executive Director, Krysta! 💙

If you've ever wondered who's juggling a million things before lunch... it's probably Krysta. 😄☕ Between meetings, grants, emails, events, big ideas, problem-solving, and somehow remembering everyone's favorite sweet treat (okay... almost 😅), she keeps our mission moving forward with grace.

But what makes Krysta truly special isn't everything she does, it's HOW she does it. 🤍

She leads with integrity. She serves with humility. She treats every person with respect. She leads with empathy, encourages teamwork, chooses positivity, and never loses sight of why we're here: to serve others with compassion.

Simply put... she lives out our values every single day. 💛🦷

A big THANK YOU to Lighthouse Christian School Madison for partnering with us for their Back to School Blessing event last weekend! 💙🧡

We were blessed to provide more than 200 dental care kits with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, along with stickers and bilingual English/Spanish brochures for families to take home.

Lighthouse served an incredible number of families throughout the event, and we’re so grateful they helped connect families with Mercy Dental Missions while sharing resources for healthier smiles. 🦷✨

Partnerships like this are such a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we come together with a shared heart for serving others. We’re grateful for every opportunity to extend God’s love, care for our neighbors, and further the mission He has placed in our hearts, one family and one smile at a time. 🤍
