Please join us in congratulating Lucy Roach, a first-year MA student, who presented her research at the 2026 Georgia Communication Association Conference, held February 26–28 at Mercer University in Macon, GA.

Lucy’s paper, “Repackaged Liberation and the Rhetoric of Return in the Tradwife Movement,” explores how figures such as Hannah Neeleman use the language of empowerment and choice to reframe traditional gender roles as liberatory rather than restrictive—an inversion of Campbell’s feminine rhetorical style.

Congratulations to Lucy on an excellent conference presentation and important scholarly contribution!

Please join us in congratulating Natalie Cowen, a first-year MA student, who presented her research at the 2026 Georgia Communication Association Conference, held February 26–28 at Mercer University in Macon, GA.

Natalie’s paper, “Sacred Scapegoats: The Exploitation of Vestal Virgins in the Roman Republic,” examined how the Roman Republic’s elevation of Vestal Virgins as sacred public figures functioned not as empowerment, but as a communicative investment that rendered them expendable during times of crisis.

Congratulations to Natalie on an amazing conference presentation!
