Macon Arts Alliance

Macon Arts Alliance Macon Arts Alliance is the designated local arts agency of Macon-Bibb County. Macon Arts Alliance is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1984.

The mission of the Macon Arts Alliance is to foster and support the advancement of arts and culture in Central Georgia. We are working to create an environment where arts and culture thrive and Central Georgia is recognized as an unparalleled cultural destination. Since then, the arts alliance has worked to support, promote and advocate for the multi-million arts and culture industry in Macon-Bibb

County and throughout Central Georgia. We serve more than 60 arts and cultural organizations and the fine arts programs of five universities throughout the mid-state, reaching an audience of more than 500,000 people. Macon Arts Alliance is supported by public investments from Macon-Bibb County and Georgia Council for the Arts, and through generous private support from foundations, corporations and private contributions. We invite you to explore this website to learn about our projects and programs at work in the midstate. The values of Macon Arts Alliance include:
• The interconnection of the arts and culture to life in Central Georgia.
• Visibility and support for the traditional and evolving arts and culture in Macon and Central Georgia.
• Arts education and lifelong learning.
• An arts environment that includes private, commercial, public, and community-based organizations.
• Advocacy for public and private arts funding and for accessibility to the arts.

If you've been downtown for any First Friday or music event, you more than likely have run into John Mollica, better known as Johnny Mo!

Johnny Mo is a visual artist, lettering specialist, music promoter, and proud Macon resident. Over the years, he has produced art for album covers, posters, and merchandise for dozens of unknown bands and a few that are more recognizable, including the Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule, Derek Trucks, and Susan Tedeschi. Today, he is a well-known part of Middle Georgia's Absurdist art movement and works primarily with paintings and mixed media works with found materials!

You can check out more of Johnny Mo's work by visiting bluesweetness.com!

You've waited long enough, now it's time to reveal our final Mural Festival Featured Artist...Nico Cathcart!

Nico is a Deaf/Hard of Hearing painter and muralist from Toronto, Ontario who currently is based in Richmond, Virginia. She is a member of the all-women paint crew Few and Far, and her work has been featured in several galleries across the country, including the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and the ABV Gallery. Nico's art style is, in her own words, "highly-realistic, socially informed intersectional activations on both walls and canvas".

You can check out more of Nico's work and support her by following her at Nico Cathcart!

Meet Heidi Clinite, a local multimedia artist who specializes in acrylic paintings, wood-burned works, and mixed-media collages using discarded and repurposed materials!

Heidi studied figure drawing and painting at The Art Students League of New York, and taught herself wood-burning in 2015. The following year, she started her art business, Ember Maypop Shop, where she sells art decor and crafts. Fun fact: Heidi's piece in our "Joie Debris" show, "Luna Sea", is a dreamcatcher made out of a bicycle rim and found objects, and a portion of the proceeds goes to supporting the Ojibwa Tribe in recognition of the cultural origins that inspired it.

You can support Heidi and check out more of her work by following her at .clinite!
