🎼 APPLY BY APRIL 1! SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 10TH-12TH GRADERS! 🎼 The Gretsch Musician Leadership Academy at the UGA Summer Music Camp is designed to develop strong skills for music leadership by emphasizing Community Impact, Social-Emotional Growth, Self-Awareness, and Civic Engagement.

During the week students will participate in a curriculum that will focus on the leadership skills listed above as well as ensemble rehearsals, instrument specific masterclasses, and applied study. Accepted applicants will attend the 2026 UGA Summer Music Camp as Gretsch Musician Leadership Academy Scholars with a full scholarship from the Gretsch Foundation.

The Gretsch Musician Leadership Academy open to 50 rising 10th - 12th grade students (guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic, band, orchestra, and piano) from the state of Georgia. Applicants will submit a registration application, audition, and a teacher reference form. Students from rural school districts and counties will be given priority. Sometimes the difference between a student staying in band… and quitting… is as simple as a broken drumhead, a worn-out reed, or a missing mouthpiece.

With the help of a $1,500 Georgia Music Grant, the MLK Jr. High School Band Parent Association was able to purchase essential supplies so students have what they need when equipment wears out or breaks.

Because when the right tools are available, students can stay in band, keep learning, and keep doing what they love most - MAKING MUSIC!
