The Macon-Bibb County Land Bank Authority recently attended the Center for Community Progress Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The national conference brought together community development professionals, policymakers, and neighborhood revitalization leaders to share innovative strategies for addressing vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties.

Macon-Bibb County was represented not only through attendance but also through leadership and expertise. Everett Verner, Director of the Macon-Bibb County Land Bank Authority, and Natalie Bouyett, Director of the Macon-Bibb County Affordable Housing Fund, served as presenters, sharing their knowledge and experiences with professionals from across the country.

The conference provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, explore best practices, and strengthen partnerships focused on transforming vacant properties into opportunities for affordable housing, neighborhood stabilization, and economic growth.

The Land Bank Authority remains committed to bringing innovative solutions and valuable resources back to Macon-Bibb County.

The Macon-Bibb County Land Bank Authority is continuing its neighborhood market study efforts in our focus areas, and our next stop is Unionville/Bartlett Crossing!

We want to hear directly from residents about housing, neighborhood needs, opportunities, and your vision for the future of the community. Your input will help us better understand the area and guide future planning and investment efforts.

REMINDER: The Land Bank's monthly meetings are always open to the public. They are held on the third Monday at the Land Bank's office or via Zoom at 4:00pm.

We will not be having a monthly meeting for the month of September due to Land Bank Conference.

South Macon Neighborhood Market Study
In June 2026, the Macon-Bibb County Land Bank Authority (MBLBA) partnered with SEAS Community Partners to conduct a Neighborhood Market Study of South Macon, one of the Land Bank’s focus areas.

The study was designed to better understand the area’s housing conditions, vacancy, affordability, neighborhood assets, resident priorities, and opportunities for reinvestment. The findings will help guide the Land Bank’s efforts to make informed decisions about property reuse, housing stabilization, partnerships, and future investment while ensuring that community priorities remain at the center of revitalization efforts.

We invite residents, community partners, developers, and other stakeholders to explore the study and learn more about the opportunities and priorities identified for South Macon.
