Meet our Treasurer-Elect, Jaquana Barnes Mosley. Jaquana brings more than 30 years of professional experience in the banking industry. She currently serves as the Retail Market Manager for Synovus Bank's Mulberry Street Branch, where she is committed to helping individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals.

As a board member of Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful, Jaquana is able to combine her passion for gardening with her dedication to community service. Her enthusiasm for beautification and environmental stewardship helps support the organization's mission to create a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant community.

In addition to her professional and volunteer accomplishments, Jaquana showcases her artistic talents as a semi-professional lead vocalist with a local show band, bringing energy and creativity to audiences throughout the community.

Meet our Board Treasurer, Laurie Fickling. Laurie is a landscape architect and Master Gardener with a passion for enhancing the beauty and sustainability of our community. In addition to serving as Board Treasurer, she is also the Co-Chair of the Beautification Committee.

Laurie has been instrumental in the revitalization of the Cherry Blossom Trail and in expanding the tree canopy throughout Macon-Bibb County. Her expertise, leadership, and dedication have helped strengthen our efforts to create a greener, more vibrant community for all to enjoy.

We are excited to begin highlighting the dedicated leaders who help guide Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful.

Our first spotlight shines on Mr. Willie Pitts, who will serve as our Board Chair. Willie has been a committed volunteer for over four years and was officially appointed to the Board in August 2026.

As a Zoning Inspector with Macon-Bibb Planning & Zoning and local Pastor, Willie brings both professional knowledge and a passion for community service to his leadership role.

🎨 Turning Trash into Art! ♻️

Huge thanks to Tanglewood Art Studios for having us at last Saturday’s Trash Walk + Drawing Workshop with the amazing Artist and Art Educator, Adrienne Berkland!

Participants spent the morning making a real difference:
🚮 Cleaning up our local streets
🧐 Analyzing their unique finds
✏️ Transforming litter into beautiful drawings
It was an incredible, inspiring day, and fun was had by all!

Thanks to the collaboration between Heart of Georgia, Georgia Power volunteers, and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), we were able to take our cleanup efforts indoors at the Bloomfield-Gilead Recreation Center. Due to the extreme heat, we pivoted from our original plans, and student-athletes and coaches from several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) stepped up to help. Together, they cleaned and organized multiple rooms throughout the recreation center, making a meaningful impact on the facility and the community it serves.

A special thank you to the student-athletes and coaches from Central State University, Lane College, Tuskegee University, Savannah State University, Edward Waters University, and Clark Atlanta University for their hard work, flexibility, and commitment to service. Their willingness to adapt and lend a helping hand helped make this project a success and demonstrated the true spirit of teamwork, leadership, and community engagement.
