Just wanted to give a huge shout out to the staff at Lubbock-Cooper East Elementary.
As I sat with my children in the discovery center, we watched as all the kids filed in. For some, its their very first time walking through school doors. They are entering a new place, surrounded by new faces, new routines, and people they don't know yet. Sometimes, that fear comes out in tears.
Honestly, its scary for parents too... There is nothing easy about leaving your child, especially when they are crying, holding onto you so tightly, or looking back as you leave. We know how it feels to hold the tears back so our kids don't see us cry, just to let it all go when we get into our vehicles. As parents, we want to know that our children are safe, cared for, welcomed, and loved while we aren't there. That's where this staff has always shined!
Thank you for kneeling down beside a crying child, offering hugs, holding hands, and helping children to their rooms. Thank you for the comfort you bring and for helping parents find the courage to walk away. You are helping turn strangers into familiar faces and tears into smiles. Please know that this work you are doing is not going unnoticed. Thank you for protecting our children, welcoming all the families, and giving them reassurance they need to take those first brave steps into a new school year. We appreciate you. Thank you for being the people our children can count on when we can't be there. I'm so proud to be a part of East!!!!
