It is with great sadness that the Los Feliz Improvement Association shares the passing of Tony Fanara, the beloved owner of Palermo Italian Restaurant and a true pillar of the Los Feliz community.

For decades, Tony welcomed neighbors through the doors of Palermo’s with warmth, generosity, and genuine kindness. Beyond the restaurant, he was an unwavering supporter of our community, always ready to lend a hand. Whether donating meals to our local fire stations, supporting neighborhood events, or quietly giving back in countless ways, Tony embodied the spirit of Los Feliz.

Palermo’s has long been more than a restaurant. It has been a gathering place where friendships were formed, milestones were celebrated, and generations of Angelenos felt at home. Through Tony’s generosity, hospitality, and steadfast commitment to our neighborhood, he helped shape the character and heart of Los Feliz.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Fanara family, the entire Palermo’s team, and all who knew and loved Tony. His kindness, generosity, and enduring commitment to this community will not be forgotten.

We are deeply grateful for Tony’s years of friendship, generosity, and dedication to our neighborhood. His legacy will always be a part of Los Feliz.

🌳 If you’ve driven through Griffith Park recently, you’ve probably noticed some changes.

New bike lanes, safer crossings, improved signage, and other traffic-calming improvements are now in place along Crystal Springs Drive, helping make Griffith Park safer and more enjoyable for everyone who visits.

Last week, community advocates, city leaders, and neighborhood organizations gathered to mark the completion of new safety improvements along Crystal Springs Drive.

The event featured remarks from a number of project supporters, including our very own LFIA Vice President Amy Gustincic, who reflected on the importance of preserving the magic of Griffith Park while creating a safer experience for the people who visit it every day.

One message echoed throughout the celebration: slower speeds save lives.

We’re grateful to everyone whose vision, partnership, and advocacy helped bring these improvements to life and look forward to seeing their impact for years to come. Special thanks to for featuring the project and for use of the cover image featured at the beginning of this video.

🥞🚒 Join our local firefighters for their annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser this Sunday, May 31 @ 8am

Visit their newly refreshed home, enjoy pancakes, station tours, a Kid’s Firefighter experience, and breakfast with the crew that serves Los Feliz every day.

Los Angeles property owners are currently voting on a proposed Street Lighting Assessment that would fund repairs, upgrades, maintenance, and reliability improvements to the city’s aging street lighting system.

The proposal is intended to help address issues including outages, aging infrastructure, and copper wire theft, while modernizing street lighting across Los Angeles neighborhoods.

❤️ A small gesture of thanks for the people who show up for Los Feliz every single day.

Last week, LFIA had the honor of delivering appreciation dinners to three of our local fire stations — Fire Station 35, Fire Station 56, and Fire Station 82 — as a small token of gratitude for the incredible service they provide to our neighborhood and to the entire city of Los Angeles.

With the generous help of Tony and the team at we coordinated nine dinner deliveries to thank the firefighters and paramedics who work tirelessly to keep our community safe.

It was especially meaningful to meet many of these dedicated first responders in person, to express our appreciation face-to-face, and strengthen the connection between our neighborhood and the people who serve it every day.

We are deeply grateful to the members of the for their commitment, professionalism, and care, not only during emergencies, but through their constant presence and service to our neighborhood.
