Let Us Pray: Talarico Claims the Bible is Silent on Abortion

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:14

James Talarico is a 36-year-old seminarian, former educator, and current Texas State Representative who has garnered national attention as he has become the Democratic nominee for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas. He will face Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in November after Paxton defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn for the Republican nomination on Tuesday. Talarico is notorious for making claims that the Bible supports, issues such as gay marriage, abortion, transgenderism, and all things LGBTQ, which are clearly condemned in Scripture.

Recently, Talarico made another stunning claim in a new video posted by TheBlaze, stating that the Bible is silent on the issue of abortion. He said, “I trust women to make decisions about their own bodies. I don’t think that’s a place for government. That’s a belief I hold not despite my faith, but because of my faith. Jesus never talks about abortion. The Bible is silent on abortion.”

This statement completely disregards what the Bible teaches about murdering children in the womb. Exodus 21:22-25 talks about men who are wrestling and hit a pregnant woman. If the baby comes out and the mother and the baby are okay then they just pay a fine. But if the baby or the mother die, then they are to be put to death. This explicitly condemns killing babies in the womb.

The Bible consistently says each preborn child is made in the image of God and deserving of protection. There are multiple Bible verses that underscore the value of human life in the womb, which include Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:13, Genesis 1:27, and more.

Talarico’s disregard for what the Bible teaches about abortion is in step with his denomination’s views. The PCUSA, which Talarico is a part of, denies that the Bible is inerrant. This means they don’t believe that the Bible is without errors. That’s why Talarico has no problem manipulating the Christian faith to promote ideologies that the Bible clearly condemns. In his view, it is correcting the Bible where it is either wrong or silent. Unfortunately for Rep. Talarico, the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and it is not silent about abortion. Instead, it condemns it unambiguously.

LET US PRAY…

Father, thank You for giving us Your Word so that we can know truth and align our lives according to it. Lord, please reveal to Rep. Talarico the serious error he is in as he manipulates and twists the Scriptures. Father, help us to be people who stand firm for the faith and defend the teachings of the Bible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Under the Trump administration, the FDA has failed to roll back its approval of the abortion death pill. The FDA is supposed to be in the business of medicine. Any pill designed to kill a human being, is not medicine.

On today's episode, David and Greg discuss the Supreme Court striking down the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling indefinitely, allowing mail-ordered abortion death pills. They also discuss the Children's Rights Scorecard released by the Greater Than Campaign.

“But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 19:14

In 2023, the Texas State Legislature passed legislation that prohibits dangerous gender transition procedures from being performed on minors. In response to the law, the Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), which is the largest pediatric hospital based in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, publicly said it had stopped its gender transition program.

Shortly after the bill went into effect, it was uncovered that the hospital was not only disregarding the law but also consciously and intentionally concealing the records. In response, the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into the hospital’s deceptive activities.

After a legal battle between the state and the hospital, just a few days ago, Attorney General Paxton announced that a settlement had been reached. Due to the hospital illegally providing transition procedures to minors, it must now create the nation’s first-ever detransition clinic, along with paying $10 million to the state.

The hospital’s detransition clinic will provide multifaceted care to children who were subjected to damaging gender transition procedures. It was also announced that for the first five years of the clinic’s operation, care provided to patients would be free. Praise be to God that the nation’s largest pediatric hospital is once again a place of healing for confused and vulnerable children. Texas Children’s Hospital is once again fulfilling its duty to do no harm and care for young people, which leads to fruitful lives.

LET US PRAY…

Father, we praise You that once more, Texas Children’s Hospital is a place of healing led by medical science and not one led by radical transgender ideology. Lord, we praise You for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and his courage to expose Texas Children’s Hospital’s illegal and harmful practices. Father, may each child in our nation understand that You have created them perfectly, either male or female, for a great purpose and plan. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“No in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37

Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily restored wide-ranging access to the abortion death drug Mifepristone. This decision was made by the High Court to provisionally halt the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s decision. That decision rightly sided with Louisiana in the state’s lengthy legal battle to block the mail order abortion death pills.

The Food and Drug Administration’s 2023 rules were challenged by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill. The challenge rightly argued that mail-order delivery of Mifepristone undermines state abortion bans and pro-life laws. It also endangers women due to the significant harm that the drug causes them.

It is worth noting that more than two-thirds of abortions nationwide are directly related to and caused by the abortion pill, Mifepristone. Despite all of this, the Supreme Court decided to once again temporarily halt the Fifth Circuit’s ruling and allow access to the abortion death pill by mail.

As the justices now have even more time to decide how to proceed in this case, let us pray that they will decide quickly to stop the access to Mifepristone through the mail. We must also pray that the Trump Administration and the FDA take long overdue action to revoke the entire authorization of the abortion death pill, ensuring that pro-life states like Kentucky can enforce their righteous laws that protect the preborn. Pre-born babies are being killed and mothers are being harmed every day they delay.

LET US PRAY…

Father, may each one of the Supreme Court justices sense Your conviction and rule righteously in this case to uphold the Fifth Circuit’s ruling to block the mail-order dispensing of the abortion death drug. Lord, we praise You for the Fifth Circuit’s righteous ruling on this issue that protects pre-born children and mothers. Father, may we be faithful, courageous, and fruitful advocates for the pre-born. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
