March Madness Marching Band is an all-volunteer, community-building organization disguised as a marching band, bringing joyous performance to charity events and festivals around the region and beyond. MMMB welcomes performers of all ages and skill levels to our weekly rehearsals. Originally formed to represent Local First Lexington (LFL) in Lexington’s 2008 downtown Christmas Parade, MMMB evolved

into an independent tax exempt organization. Through delirious performance that captivates and engages audiences, we created a moving metaphor for the diverse talents of Central Kentucky. We raise awareness about charitable, civic, and cultural activities by drawing a crowd and energizing those events. We have also performed at music festivals beyond Central Kentucky—as close as Louisville and Somerset, and as far away as Austin, TX and Detroit, MI. Want to join our joyful music and dance? March Madness Marching Band is revving up for our 2026 season, and we welcome new members -- starting with our first rehearsal of the year on Sunday, February 8! We hope you’ll consider joining us as a musician, or in our unconventional color guard.

March Madness Marching Band is an all-volunteer, community-building organization based in Lexington, KY. Disguised as a marching band, we bring joyous music and movement to parades, charity events, and festivals around the region and beyond. MMMB welcomes performers of all ages and skill levels to our weekly rehearsals.

You might have seen us in Central KY parades, where we don’t try for matching uniforms, and our performers range from Gen Z to Boomers. We include professional musicians and dancers alongside band members who hadn’t picked up an instrument since high school marching band years earlier. We all share a love for entertaining and uplifting audiences throughout our communities.

Does this sound up your alley? Our 2026 season begins February 8, and we rehearse most Sundays 4-6pm at Artworks at the Carver School, 522 Patterson Street in Lexington.

As we approach a new year, we hope that this video performance of a medley of songs by Rage Against the Machine ("Bulls on Parade" and "Killing in the Name") will in some small way help inspire you to remain firm in your resolve and to stand by the courage of your convictions.

Happy 2026! We will be beginning our new season in the coming weeks, so watch this space for announcements of when rehearsals start!

We hope all of our American friends had a restful and festive Thanksgiving weekend!

Our last performances of 2025 will be the holiday parades in Lexington and Georgetown, both on Saturday, December 6!

It’s coming this Sunday… our nationally-recognized Halloween Festival and Thriller Parade. 🧟

Rated as a “Top 10 Halloween Destination” by USA Today, our Lexington, KY Parks & Recreation team, Mecca Live Studio & Gallery and WRFL work hard to bring a fun celebration to our city. Come watch the zombies reenact Thriller, enjoy Halloween-inspired art and performances. It’s all happening from 4-9 p.m. downtown.
