March Madness Marching Band March Madness Marching Band We are professional artists, dedicated amateurs, and spirited children who captivate crowds through music and movement!

March Madness Marching Band is an all-volunteer, community-building organization disguised as a marching band, bringing joyous performance to charity events and festivals around the region and beyond. MMMB welcomes performers of all ages and skill levels to our weekly rehearsals. Originally formed to represent Local First Lexington (LFL) in Lexington’s 2008 downtown Christmas Parade, MMMB evolved into an independent tax exempt organization. Through delirious performance that captivates and engages audiences, we created a moving metaphor for the diverse talents of Central Kentucky. We raise awareness about charitable, civic, and cultural activities by drawing a crowd and energizing those events. We have also performed at music festivals beyond Central Kentucky—as close as Louisville and Somerset, and as far away as Austin, TX and Detroit, MI. Want to join our joyful music and dance? We are nearing the Full Moon 🌕 and the start of our Thriller season!

Mecca Live Studio And Gallery, the founders of Lexington’s annual Thriller event are kicking things off with a performance multicultural showcase at Moondance Amphitheater on Saturday September 26th

“Under The Harvest Moon” features performances from the dancers at Mecca studio, as well as March Madness Marching Band , Mardi Love, Shuling Studio, Creafo Haitian Dance and many regional belly dance companies.

JOIN US FOR THRILLER! 2026!

Thank you so much to all our friends and family who joined us over a busy summer season! Shout out to anyone who came to see us at Lexington Pride, Kenwick Porch Fest, Tahlsound, DiverCity, or any number of other shows we've put on this year.

If you've ever thought about joining us as a musician, dancer, or even a non-performing volunteer, but you weren't sure about when would be a good time -- great news! The time is now!

Starting with our next rehearsal on Sunday, 9/13/26, we will be beginning our preparations for this year's Thriller! Lexington festival and parade. If that sounds fun to you (and it is), come join us! It's free, easy, and there's no real commitment -- you don't have to join us long-term if all you want to do is jump in on one spooky show!

Lots more details below, but one specific detail here: While we always welcome performers of all types, we are currently specifically looking for performers who play an instrument in the middle voice range -- French horn/mellophone, trombone, tenor sax, etc. If that's you, we want you!

March Madness Marching Band is an all-volunteer, community-building organization based in Lexington, KY. Disguised as a marching band, we bring joyous music and movement to parades, charity events, and festivals around the region and beyond. MMMB welcomes performers of all ages and skill levels to our weekly rehearsals.

You might have seen us in Central KY parades, where we don’t try for matching uniforms, and our performers range from Gen Z to Boomers. We include professional musicians and dancers alongside band members who hadn’t picked up an instrument since high school marching band years earlier. We all share a love for entertaining and uplifting audiences throughout our communities.

Does this sound up your alley? We rehearse most Sundays 4-6pm at Artworks at the Carver School, 522 Patterson Street in Lexington.
Please message us on Facebook or email us at [email protected] if you are interested in joining a rehearsal, so we can print out music charts for your instrument (or have props for you in color guard).
