The Junior League of Lexington's Holly Day Market is the must-attend shopping event of the season! Dec. 4-6, 2026, at Alltech Arena

In 2007, the Junior League of Lexington launched the Holly Day Market as an event to raise funds to further the Junior League’s mission of promoting the quality of life in the Bluegrass. Portions of ticket sales and funds go to local and nonprofit charities.The Holly Day Market brings vendors from across the United States to Lexington for one weekend to give shoppers the opportunity to buy holiday

gifts in one spectacular location. Vendors sell jewelry; clothes for women, men and children; toys; books; holiday decorations; ornaments; art; food; and much more. Plus, the Holly Day Market offers daily events and activities for everyone including a much anticipated visit from Santa.

Did you know that by shopping at the Holly Day Market, you are doing more than checking Christmas gifts off your list – that you are also helping the community at the same time?

One of our current funded agencies, The Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning, recently hosted their annual Back to School Bash. Funds raised through the Holly Day Market and our other fundraiser, the Lexington Junior League Horse Show, helped us support this annual event where students from across Lexington could gain access to school supplies, backpacks, and books, getting them ready for school!

In addition to funds, we also provided volunteers to help distribute the school supplies and bring smiles to young faces.

We LOVE our community!

We’ve been working hard to put together an exciting night of mahjong, with proceeds benefiting the Holly Day Market, at the end of August. We spread the word to our local mahjong community and before we could even share the event on this page, they sold out the event in its entirety!

WOW!!

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and the dedication of our local mahjong community to helping us support local nonprofits and community partners.

If you didn’t get a chance to sign up for this event, don’t worry! We will host another Open Play for Holly Day in November—more details to come soon! Thank you to everyone who helped us sell out this event in just over 2 hours, and we look forward to seeing you on August 23rd!

Christmas in July continues today with a highlight of our 2024 Holly Day Market Chair, Beth Shockley!

When asked what makes Holly Day Market so special, Beth said, “Being on the Holly Day Market Committee, and ultimately being the chair introduced me to so many incredible women that I now get to call my friends. It was really how I found my footing within the League. It was also very humbling to look back at all of the other incredible women that had chaired this fundraiser before me and know that I was now a small part of the legacy that they helped build. The market itself is special because it combines two of my favorite things! Helping small businesses in our area and fundraising!”

As we look back on 20 years of the Holly Day Market, we must take a moment to acknowledge and thank the countless women who have given thousands of hours to plan, execute, and support the market for two decades.

Each year, the Holly Day Market requires over 700 volunteer hours just in the weekend alone! In addition to that time, the women who serve on the planning committee each put in hundreds of hours just to ensure a successful fundraiser.

We honor the legacy of those who have come before us, and give a special thanks to our 2026 Holly Day Market planning committee! Want to see the hard work of the committee paying off? We’re celebrating Christmas in July all month long! Today we’re throwing it back to 2023, to our Chair Brooke Englert!

When asked what made the Holly Day Market so special, she said, “What makes the Holly Day Market so special is that it is about so much more than shopping. For one weekend, it brings together talented vendors from across the country, dedicated volunteers, and thousands of shoppers, all united by a common purpose of supporting the Lexington community. Every purchase helps fund meaningful work through local nonprofits, allowing attendees to find unique gifts while making a lasting impact. The spirit of generosity, community, and tradition is what makes Holly Day Market a cherished event each year. I am proud to have been part of that!”

Did you know that the Holly Day Market is one of two fundraisers for the Junior League of Lexington? Every year, funds raised through sponsorships, ticket sales, and merchant fees allows us to give back to our community in a meaningful way.

From supporting large projects like The Nest’s renovation of their storage/shopping room, to smaller microgrants purchasing beds for kids in need, diapers for babies without, and food for those who need it most, we are deeply proud of the impact the Holly Day Market makes on the community every year.

Continuing on our Christmas in July series, today we are throwing it back to 2009, to our third annual Holly Day Market! Natalie Lynch served as Chair in 2009, and was part of the initial planning committee for the market!

Here is what she had to say about what Holly Day Market means to her: “ As someone who was part of the initial formation of HDM, I am delighted that our fundraiser is growing and evolving. The initial board was tasked to go to other Junior League markets and gather insights on what made each successful. We had a vision for our HDM. After 20 years, we have established a wonderful and profitable event that funds many current and past funded agencies. The Holly Day Market is special because each new woman brings her vision and passion. Young women are tasked with a major fundraiser and make it successful every year.”

The Holly Day Market we know and love would not be possible without the tireless work of Natalie and her fellow committee members, launching the first market in 2007 after several years of preparation. With over 100 merchants and 3,000 shoppers each year, we are proud of how the market has grown over the last 20 years!
