On Sept. 23, 2026, a petition launched in Montgomery County in Kentucky. Started by high school student Alex Williams, the petition aims to ban AI use in posters promoting school-sanctioned events.

What inspired the petition, Williams said, was walking around the school and noticing how many posters look AI generated. It makes the school look unprofessional, in his opinion.

Some commenters on the petition echo these points: “When I or someone I know see something that is created using A.I, it instantly loses its value,” one wrote.

WAY TO GO Chase! Joining Kentucky Tonight on KET - Kentucky Educational Television to talk about our recent AI in Schools survey! 🤖

What we found is that students are using AI a vast amount of ways and have a lot of different feelings about it. As young people, we are scared of the misinformation it spreads but also are finding ways to use it to help create study guides or prompt critical thinking questions.
