We would like to thank Fr. Bob Rooney for sharing his life and vocation story on October 29th to a packed house filled with our 50+ years young group at Curé of Ars. His theme throughout his life has been "How Good God Is."

Lola Kernell, a parishioner at Cure of Ars, shares with families that amid an autism, Down syndrome or similar diagnosis, there is hope — and a great deal of it. 🙏

During the 2025 legislative season, Kernell testified on behalf of House Bill 2307. Signed into law on April 7, 2025, the bill transferred the authority for overseeing prenatal and postnatal diagnosed conditions awareness programs from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities (KCDD). 🤝

Now more than a year after the bill’s passage, Kernell, in her role as advocacy coordinator at KCDD, is excited to have led the creation of the “New & Expectant Parent Guide: A Resource Guide for Kansas families in the I/DD Community.”

Happy All Saints’ Day!
⁣
Today we rejoice with the great cloud of witnesses who surround us and intercede for us. From the well-known saints to the holy souls known only to God, we give thanks for their faithful example and their prayers.
⁣
May their lives inspire us to become saints right where we are, serving God and one another with joy.
⁣
All saints of God, pray for us. 🙏

As the holy seasons of Advent and Christmas approach, these sacred weeks can pass without time to pause and contemplate those whose hearts were prepared for the Savior’s arrival. The witness of the Holy Family, their devoted kin, the shepherds, and the temple dwellers form a “great cloud of witnesses” who guide us in preparation.

Dear Parish Family,
This coming weekend is Commitment Sunday for our Annual Stewardship Renewal, Receive and Give: Experiencing the True Joy of Stewardship! This yearly season of renewal will be a lasting part of who we are as a parish family for many years to come.

Over these past weeks, we have been reflecting on how Jesus received everything from His Father and spent His life giving it all away. Now we are invited to respond by prayerfully renewing our commitments of Time, Talent, and Treasure.

We encourage every household to bring their completed Commitment Card with them to Mass on Saturday, October 24, or Sunday, October 25 and drop it in the collection basket. If you haven't yet filled out your card, take a few moments this week to pray about how God is calling you to receive and give, and put your answer in writing.

Each of us has a unique and vital part to play in becoming the Stewardship Parish that God intends us to be, intentionally committed to prayer, parish ministry, the care of others, and the sharing of our financial gifts.

You may also drop your card in the mail slot at the parish office anytime, mail it using the envelope provided, or complete one online at cureofars.com/stewardship. If you need a new card, stop by the parish office.

Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your participation in this important moment in the life of our parish. I will be praying for each of you and your families as we take this step in faith together.

Gratefully in Christ,
Fr. Riley
