Since 1999, we have pulled dogs from city/county shelters, owner surrenders, and those found abandoned in Texas border cities. WHAT WE DO

After rescuing animals from participating shelters, Forgotten Friends:
-provides a health exam with a participating veterinarian, including heartworm testing,
-provides the rabies shot and yearly vaccinations,
-dental, heartworm treatment and any other care nee

ded,
-has the animals spayed or neutered, and
-provides the animals with monthly heartworm medication. (Heartworm disease can be deadly, but is preventable if dogs are given once-a-month chewable heartworm pills.) They are then allowed time to adjust and become accustomed to a foster family environment (when one is available) before being adopted into their new home that is a good match for family and dog. http://www.volunteermatch.org/search/org41846.jsp

Prevent Pet Suffocation. I am sad to say this happened to one of my family members a few years ago. Their pet was their whole world but the pet snuck a plastic meat bag out of the garbage while they were cooking. The dog went into another room with the bag and could not get it off of their face/head and died. Accidents happen and they were devastated.

Pippa Mae - TINY ANGEL! This darling senior Yorkie was rescued as a stray from a country Animal Shelter where she had been there a week. She was filthy with a matted coat and her nails were so long she could barely walk. Remarkably in good health for her age, she is toothless but enjoys canned food and has a good appetite.

We are looking for a home with a safe set up because she is a bit fragile. No pool and no young children. We would prefer an adopter in the general Austin area.

Pippa Mae’s adoption fee of $350.00 includes her Vet exam, current vaccinations, negative 4DX, preventative, negative f***l test, spay, microchip and grooming.

Two sweet old ladies just came in today, will see our Vet tomorrow. Pippa Mae and Grace have not been well cared for, they smell badly, and have matted coats. Pippa had nails so long she could barely stand and couldn’t walk. Grace has some hard lumps in her mammary glands that could possibly be Cancer but we pray not. We will keep you updated.
