Two days. Serious conversations. Real campaign strategy.

CSI: Campaign Strategy Intensive brought campaign managers, candidates, and experts together to talk about what it actually takes to run disciplined and effective campaigns.

From messaging and media strategy, crisis management to fundraising, compliance, and field operations, this training focused on the systems behind winning campaigns.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this first program under the Black Women in Michigan Politics Institute a success.

This is just the beginning. The work of preparing the next generation of campaign managers continues.

Here are a few moments from the event....

Black Women in Michigan Politics joins the nation in mourning the passing of civil rights icon Jesse Jackson.

For decades, Rev. Jackson stood on the front lines of the fight for justice, economic equity, and political empowerment. His leadership helped expand opportunities for Black Americans to participate fully in our democracy, and his voice challenged this country to live up to its highest ideals.

On behalf of our Chair, Sylvia Santana, and the members of Black Women in Michigan Politics, we honor a life devoted to service, advocacy, and unapologetic courage. His work helped open doors for generations of Black leaders, including the women who continue to shape policy and community across our state.

We are grateful for his legacy. We remain committed to the work.

May he rest in power.

Wear Red Day is more than a color. It’s a call to awareness and action.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. For Black women, the risk is even higher. We are about 30–40% more likely to die from heart disease than white women, and we are more likely to develop it earlier in life.

Too often, the symptoms Black women experience are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or ignored altogether. Stress, lack of access to quality healthcare, environmental factors, and systemic inequities all play a role—and awareness is one of the first steps toward change.

Today, we Wear Red to honor the women we’ve lost, to stand with the women currently fighting heart disease, and to remind ourselves and our communities that prevention, advocacy, and early intervention matter.

Take your health seriously. Ask questions. Push for answers. Encourage the women in your life to do the same.

Our lives depend on it.

Black History Month is not just a reflection on the past.
It is recognition of a living legacy.

Black women have always shaped this nation’s civic life. We organized before we were recognized. We led before we were elected. We built movements, protected communities, and carried democracy forward often without credit, protection, or pause.

In Michigan, Black women continue that legacy every day. In classrooms and courtrooms. At kitchen tables and capitol buildings. In campaigns, coalitions, and communities where the work is steady, strategic, and deeply rooted in care.

This month, we honor the history.
We uplift the present.
And we commit to the future.

Happy Black History Month.

Strong messaging gets attention.

But strong organization turns attention into action!

Winning campaigns are not built on words alone. They are built on discipline, coordination, and systems that ensure the message is delivered consistently, legally, and effectively across every part of the operation.

CSI: Campaign Strategy Intensive is designed for the people responsible for making the message real, campaign and deputy campaign managers who translate vision into ex*****on from launch through Election Day.

If you manage a campaign, this training is for you.

If you are a candidate, this is an investment in the person responsible for delivering results.

If you advise or support candidates, this is the kind of preparation that changes outcomes.

MLK DAY IS A DAY ON; NOT A DAY OFF

As we approach MLK Weekend, Black Women in Michigan Politics calls on our whole community to move beyond reflection and into action.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us that “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”

For him, service was never symbolic. It was practical, collective, and rooted in strengthening communities.

This weekend, we encourage you to be intentional:

Pay attention to what’s happening in our local communities

Look to local events, news, and social platforms

Identify opportunities to serve, uplift, and support meaningful work already underway

Whether it’s volunteering, mentoring, organizing, donating, or simply showing up in support of others, presence matters.

MLK Day is not a pause.
It’s a push.

Honor the legacy by continuing the work.

Winning campaigns are built on more than good candidates. They are powered by managers who can translate vision into strategy, strategy into systems, and systems into ex*****on.

CSI: Campaign Strategy Intensive is designed for the people who actually run campaigns. Two days focused on operational discipline, decision-making, and the systems that carry a campaign from launch through Election Day.

If you are a campaign or deputy campaign manager, this training is for you.
If you are a candidate, this is an investment in the person driving your campaign forward.
If you know someone running for office, this is the engine they need behind the scenes.
